Me tooOriginally posted by captainfog View PostActually, I can see Spurs, Chelsea, City, Arsenal and United all prepared to pay 20m+ and 100k+ a week wages. But as above, they wouldn't have to pay anyway near that. Without a new contract we'd be lucky to get 10m for him in the summer.

I can see City considering that at least, he's english and he's good, that's not too common really and it's very valuable for teams. Having a young, english, quality midfielder approaching his final 12 months is unacceptable IMO, we need to get this together. Apparently we are now in negotiations with Kolo, Glen, Allen, Sterling, Flanagan and Henderson, at least. We'll soon be making offers to new players as well so IMO we need to get this done soon.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWho would buy Henderson for big money and big wages?* The above is posted in my opinion. It's a lot of money for a 'a meat and potatoes English footballer who runs around a lot'.Originally posted by captainfog View PostActually, I can see Spurs, Chelsea, City, Arsenal and United all prepared to pay 20m+ and 100k+ a week wages. Yeah it is, I'm not a massive fan of Jordan Henderson and often feel conflicted by him. When you see him play like he did against City and Burnley I think he definitely should be a mainstay of our side, but then...... he wouldn't get in any of the great Liverpool midfield lineups. Even recently, Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano under Rafa... he wouldn't get a look in.Originally posted by RedReet View PostIt's a lot of money for a 'a meat and potatoes English footballer who runs around a lot'.
He's good, but I dunno if he'll ever be more than that.
But I'm in the minority who think that, and he is English which adds a premium too. He'd easily command that sort of money in the current market.

He'd be a good signing for United IMO, but I don't think he's as highly rated as he should be at other clubs and can't see many, if any paying top dollar for him.
That being said, if he keeps up his current form and gets another few assists and goals before the end of the season, that will likely change. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Milner signed for City for 28.5million and 80k a week wages ( guessing!! )in 2010Originally posted by RedReet View PostIt's a lot of money for a 'a meat and potatoes English footballer who runs around a lot'.
and Henderson has more potential than Milner_____________________________________

With the new TV deal being signed you'd expect most agents to be pushing for much larger salaries than the past couple of years. i.e. what we've got used to as the "market rates" are almost irrelevant in figuring out what is reasonable going forwards.
So yeah, Henderson might be looking for £100k now, which might be high for the current market but low for the market of a year down the line.

thats hardly an endorsementOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostMan United would be all over Henderson like a tramp on chips, he's miles better than anything they have in midfield.

But would they? They have has loads of money to spend on a quality midfielder for years now and it continues to be a bit of a blind spot for them.
Plus as highly as Henderson is rated by us Liverpool supporters I don't think his stock is anywhere near as high amongst supporters of others teams and possibly even managers of other teams.
Not that I would complain if that were the case because the more our good players get overlooked by other teams the better.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

No, it's just how I've felt about Henderson for a while now. Got nowt to do with his contract situation. Is he better than Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano of 6/7 years ago? If you're really honest with yourself the answer is no.Originally posted by Paddy View PostAlways makes me laugh when there is a possibility of a player leaving.

He'd be a massive loss to the team and would set us back again. It's imperative the club keep hold of him.
