Looking at it can you blame him? After last season we should have kicked on this season but he has seen us sell our best player, replace him with Balotelli, sign half the Southampton side, let our captain walk out the door and constantly be reminded by the manager that we cannot attract top players.

I think players of Jordan's ilk need to look a bit closer at themselves, and recognize the fortunate situation they are in.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostLooking at it can you blame him? I do like him, and think he's a good player, but he's not top-top tier quality and never will be IMO - it's not like Real or Barca will be knocking on his door. That's not to say he cannot be a fixture for us for his entire career, and while not my first choice of character, he'll probably be captaining the side for the foreseeable future and figuring for England (although that shouldn't hold him back).
I think any delay is just posturing, and I don't think there's any danger of him not signing, but it'll probably be closer to 100k, which I would guess is about 2x what he's on. That's pretty good for a player of his level, which would be allowed to grow as he stays at the club and proves to be an important member.
Edit - actually checking out that supposed list of wages, Henderson is on 55k now. Even Skrtel, who has been at the club since 2008, is on 90k. Think a deal deal for Henderson around the same is pretty good.Last edited by McDermotX; 06-04-15, 10:10 AM."I will make the boys feel your support"

I am not that bothered about Sterling going we will get a shedload of cash for him but Henderson I think we should give him what he wants
He has only 12 months left on his contract this summer, we probably will be lucky to get what we paid for him (£13-16m) and the cost of a replacement will be much much higher
As for your post the realities of all football contracts is they are absurd and grossly over inflated, I have no real problems with players trying to maximise their value. There is no need for introspection from their behalf because we would all do the same in their positionBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Doing that is not as straight forward as it sounds (and we don't know what he thinks he's worth in wages each week either).Originally posted by False9 View PostGive him what he wants in terms of money ... hes deserves it ... the captains armband ... not sure ...although his stats stack up .... but at ****ing RB ... Sweet Baby Jesus BDog wtf
The club has a wage structure and caving in to players and giving them what they want will get us back into the Rafa situation where our wage bill was out of control for the last couple of seasons he was with us.
From what I've heard when FSG bought the club they were shocked at the playing staff's wage bill and set about bringing it under some semblance of control.

I would be massively surprised if he left, given the position he's carved out for himself, but then football is a 'funny old game'.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI think he will be gone in the summer as will Sterling

He's a very good player, but he's not a ****ing great player and his end product stats are still not near the level we hope he'll find as his career progresses.
But he's a regular, odds on to be the next captain, featuring for England etc, and frankly, he's one of the hardest workers in the playing staff, but we need to be realistic as to his worth. I don't fancy him as a '120k a week' player (or whatever the rumours were a couple weeks back) at this stage of his career, and an amount under that and what we offer in lowball is probably right.
As for players maximizing their worth, that's fair enough, but even in football, a semblance of realism is to be expected, and right now he's a player playing for the 5th best team who are not CL regulars and are not overly challenging for the major honours. If he thinks he can earn more or the same as players at the big boys table, that's fair enough, he can chase the money elsewhere and we'll have our answer as to whether he thinks his future is with us.
2x his current wages for a non-CL side is pretty good going, even for a footballer with ridiculous notions."I will make the boys feel your support"

Sick of hearing about our wage structure tbh. If we can't afford to pay our vice-captain and one of our most important players market rate I think we need to publicly adjust our targets and expectations. It's not like we are talking about Allen here, he is an important member of our first XI.Originally posted by ChrisDR1968 View PostDoing that is not as straight forward as it sounds (and we don't know what he thinks he's worth in wages each week either).

We are very clearly not a top four club longer but are we trying to get back in or will consolidate our position in the 5-7th?* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Do yo think Henderson will go? I have kind of been assuming he would just sign after a little bit of negotiation. He's a good player but as people have said I doubt Real Madrid or Barcelona would come knocking, and if one of the top 4 came in for him I don't think he could be certain of a starting spot. IMO where he is at the moment the opportunity of regular football and the chance to captain LFC isn't something he should consider chucking away lightly.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI think he will be gone in the summer as will Sterling

For me the Sterling situation is different, he does have the potential to be a world class player if he continues his development and where he available I wouldn't be surprised if some top clubs came in for him, (how much game time he would get for them is another story). I would hope Jordan is sensible enough to realise what he has.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
