Yeah, you want/need one of your midfielders to contribute with goals/assists....we are not going to get that from Can/Lucas/Allen tho to be fair to Allen he has taken his chances....so it means we need hendo to contribute with goals, 10/12 a season, he doesn't get anywhere near that. Lucky if he gets five a year.

I know he was Ill last night. And I'm not having a go and I'd love him to be great, but there's three big chances against united now, that I can think of off the top of my head, that have been good chances and he's not even got close to scoring.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

the lad showed guts to play in such a tough game and our fans are slating him despite the fact that he was ill.

the fact that he was outpaced by carrick shows how ill he was but at least he was still out there leading the team when other players we have who are more appreciated by fans go down at the first cough.

It's odd when we finished 2nd he seemed to be coming on in that area. The question is what we see now a reversion to the mean or was there something about that setup/training regime/atmosphere of inspiration (largely from Suarez) which we could look to return to.

I thought he added more goals and assists last year, although got criticised for his overall play not being as good?

Pre-injury I definitely thought Henderson was a lovely striker of the ball and was surprised he didn't get more goals. I'm 100% convinced that he wouldn't have missed some of the chances he has recently before he got that heel injury, but I don't know if I should be worried that can't strike the ball like he used to or take comfort in knowing that if he gets fit again then he'll be scoring these chances.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I guess my impression is different from what the stats say are true (6 goals last season, 4 the season before). To me it has felt like he has been only shooting from range since that season rather than finishing. I guess with so few goals in any season it is just putting a narrative to too few data points. All of our midfielders need to get better at scoring goals.

TBH, I thought he scored more last year (must have got off to a good start). I just remember people arguing that he needed more end product and for a period last year he was giving that, but he was still getting heavily criticised. He’s obviously been worse this year, so at this stage it’s becoming a concern.

He's playing deeper than in previous seasons (a position that does not play to his strengths) and is carrying an injury. If that is to be his permanent position and he is to be permanently injured, then we can do better. But I think Klopp would like him to be more of an up-and-down merchant, which would play to his strengths, but is a position he cannot play with this injury. So it all depends on his heel.

Defo keep although not as captain.

As some have said, his role is different under Klopp. He's having to be more controlled now, which doesn't necessarily suit his game. Anything that he was doing and he isn't anymore is down to the system under Klopp. Then he also might not be 100% due to his recent injury.

I think you made your point 1st time.

                      But I do agree

You think Klopp has told him to focus on short sideways passes to players under pressure?

Klopp certainly doesn't see the game in the one dimensional way you lot analyze and see the game.

I still don't think he'd be starting if he hadn't been made captain before Klopp arrived.

                              It's hypothetical.

I think this would explain why we've been linked with two/three central midfielders if there's any truth in this.
