Hendo.. just like the Team .. just like Rodgers .. was being lauded universally not so long ago ... suddenly the team get beat by United & Arsenal and lose a one off cup tie and everything is being called into Question ... Hendo is class .. his stats speak for themselves .. he plays .. gerrard does not .. we tend to win ... all that was missing from his game was goals .. hes added them .. and assists and grit ... he is a class player and show me another English central mid field 24 year old with his wealth of experience ... I am over the moon hes signed ... great business all round ... we now need to sign up Sterling ... although with potentially the club captain on 100k ... I cant see how Sterling will be able to negotiate a deal much bigger than that ...

I think the problem is that those are big games when you want your most influential players to stand up and be counted. For me the issue is that we lack shape in midfield and that usually comes from central midfielders. Henderson isn't that sort of player (neither was Gerrard). Failing to make the balance work is a problem which lands at Rodgers door but does highlight some of the limitations of Henderson (and our other midfielders).

That said I'm made up that he's signed a long term deal. I think he is going to be a key figure in the team for years to come.

Its nothing to do with the last few games

I dont think hes been anywhere near as good defensively this season as last

Attacking wise hes been about the same but his energy levels have been lower all season

I am still pleased we have him signed up though

I like Hendo but is he captain material? I'm just not sure, maybe he'll grow into the role but we need a leader in that role and IMO at the moment Hendo isn't that.

If we have been paying Glen 100 k a week for the past five years , then I think in the modern climate it is a fair wage for hendo , he has fought to stay at the club , fought to get in the squad , fought to get in the team , fought to make himself a starter every week , and now looks like Captain for next year ,

I don't see how that is not admirable in the modern game , some players like Mario get handed it all on a plate while Hendo has earnt his ,
