Our midfield time and again get bullied - Lucas who has been brilliant, imo should not be the ball winning midfielder.

I'd like a Mascharano/Toure type next to Adam/Gerrard and then a 'playmaker' Mata type.

I'm not saying this because he's had a very average start but i have no idea why we bought Henderson, he's crap out wide and not good enough (for a team supposedly challenging for honors) yet to play centrally either.

We should have thrown all our eggs in to the Mata basket.
    We come not to play.

henderson or spearing think spearing did enough to keep his place based on last season

Mata was never coming to us Imy for any amount of money/salary. We need to get over this.

IMO, if we get into the champs league which is very much a possibly Mario Goetze is a player i'd love to see at LFC. Going to be world class IMO. Likes of Hazard,Goetze etc are much more realistic options with champs league footie.

I think that our system relies on both centre midfielders being effective, the problem yesterday was that Adam wasn't. Lucas was doing alot of work, but the midfield was over-run because Adam went missing. We can play very effectively with that system, as long as both players turn up. We did it last year with Spearing and Lucas, and have done it this year when Adam has played well along side Lucas. The problem at the moment IMO is that Adam is inconsistent.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Gutted, I can't help but feel disappointed with our summer activity - We signed British players who are used to the league and can hit the ground running - But really haven't.

The more technical (some foreign) players other clubs have bought but were reputably a target for us - Have.

How come we seem to get it wrong more often than not in the transfer market?
              We come not to play.

Lucas was very average at 21 and has improved, lets hope Henderson cane do the same
                Well, that's where you're going wrong. It's not. It's a spad.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Same comment about Adam, why on earth did we sign him?

We already had a technical midfielder who didn't enjoy tackling (Meireles, who's doing quite well at Chelsea in his two games) why did we buy another more inconsistent one?

Imo the mix of personnel in the central midfield is still not right.
                  We come not to play.

Downing, yes, but Carroll, Henderson and Adam have all had one season in the top flight or less. They were all relatively unproven and hence big risks.

Unfortunately that's the reality of it

Scott Parker bossed our midfield last season when he was at West Ham , he bossed them again yesterday

Key thing for me yesterday was we were second best to everything, particularly the second balls

Definitely the game changer we should have been after and we didn't even try.

Still early days but I expressed my concerns before that we threw all our eggs in one basket and got 3 players that created greatest number of chances last year (the key being in a single season) but you cannot really only on stats approach to pick up your new acquisitions.

Mata is a quality and for the money and wages he went for we missed out on him big time.
