i think alot of liverpool fans initially were unconvinced about henderson, i myself was surprised that he was the first signing we made. however after watching him more closely for england u21s and the early games this season i think he has done ok. again he has probably been made to look like he hasn't had a great start when compared to suarez or even adam or downing but you have to put it into perspective all those players have hundreds of games more experience. His start has certainly not been bad, he has improved game after game which is great to see, the more confidence he gaisn the better he will perform.

With Henderson you have a midfield player who wants to play pass and move football at all times, this is his biggest strength and because of it he brings something that i think will be integral to the style dalglish is aiming for. by keeping possession and time ticking over you tire the opposite side out exponentially more than yourself, you are also able to dictate the tempo of the game, speeding it up when you want and slowing it down when there is a need for calmness (a crucial skill to have when you want to close out a game)

however i do feel that at times his strength can be a double-edged sword, sometimes he passes when perhaps he would be better having a run himself and being a bit more selfish. Not to worry though because much like Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson is a player with an amazing amount of raw talent, he is atheltic and pacey and has superb technique, this is where dalglish and co. and stevie g come into play because under the guidance of them they can improve Hendersons decision making. I'd like to see him be more selfish and make more forward runs and perhaps with experience he will. it is wrong to compare him to gerrard though (he is not yet a player who can completely dominate a game like stevie g) and i believe they possess different styles.

watching him for england u21 this summer was interesting, in that team he wanted to play pass and move much like their spanish counter parts but the rest of the england squad did not, he fits in much better at liverpool under dalglish because this will become our new style.

if he plays well he will be crucial at Stoke because as Jan Molby said recently, teams make a mistake when they go to stoke and look to shut them down because that suits them but if you go there to dominate them you probably have a better chance, henderson and lucas' ability to keep games ticking over and controlling the tempo of the game will be of immeasurable value against them.

overall i feel that if things go right for henderson he will be a central figure for liverpool in the future, all he needs to do is improve his decision making!

That goal he scored for the U21's recently had a Gerrard feel to it. He clearly has the ability to score goals and I think as he gets more confident and matures he will look to be more adventurous.

Started this thread as i was never sure what Henderson actually was but i have figured it out now, bang average. Lad has some serious improving to do, early doors but he has been poor to say the least.

You figured out he's bang average cause of a few good games & a few anonymous games this season?

Guess that makes Suarez "bang average" too then.

Nope more of a general opinion about him even before he joined us, which is being compounded at LFC. Has time on his side but nowhere near a starter for us.

P.S. What good games where these exactly? He has been **** lets be brutally honest (same as Carroll), but he does have time to improve and hopefully progress.

He'll repeat the same after every single defeat or draw this season aswell incase anyone didnt hear the first, second, third etc time.

People like him are the downside of Istanbul.

Excellent against Bolton, good against Arsenal & had a decent first half against Sunderland, was poor in the 2nd but so was everyone else.

Poor today, funnily enough so was everyone else again. Don't let me stop you making snap judgements on a 21 year old lad with bags of potential though, it's not like we've ever seen players like that improve.

What did you think of Lucas when he was 21?

True. The best way to approach him is to vastly exaggerate his contribution, then he seems a lot better. I'll give it a go.

Henderson's new name should be Spongebob Squarepass.

Agreed. It doesn't suit Lucas anymore...
