I think most dont rate him because he doesnt have a dozen goals and assists to his name. Which is fair enough. I've always liked him and said he'd make a great captain.

Never realised the Dempsey swap was mooted back in 2012. Looking back at this thread, it seems Hendo was behind Shelvey in the pecking order

To be fair in 2012 Henderson did look more easily replaced than he has done the past half decade or so.

Maybe not replaced by a Shelvey level player, but certainly looked easier to replace then than the player he grew into being.

Not so sure, but an arguement could certainly be made either way about that.

Course had he not been banned, and we won the league at that time, then we likely may not have headed down the path that lead to getting Klopp in.

Yep, my exact sentiments...him getting banned was part of the perceived bigger picture to get rid of Rodgers to bringing in Klopp!

Imagine Brendan winning that year, where would have Klopp ended?...doesn't bear thinking about!

one thing i will never understand.........is how the **** Harry Kane got picked as England captain over Henderson.

I think he is awesome. And even at the start of his time at Liverpool, i think he got a hard time because he wasn't Gerrard. FFS who is. There is no argument that Gerrard is a far far far better football player.....but i think there is a hell of an argument to say that Henderson is a better captain of LFC. I think the other players play better when he is on the pitch.

Imagine if Brendan swapped him for Clint Dempsey all those years ago!!
