Id be gutted if we let him go over this, he has given me a sense of pride in the club with his behaviour off the field that I think has been lacking from the owners. He is as much part of Liverpool now as anyone who's gone before him. Proper club legend who has earnt the right to be here.

When I think of Liverpool Captains, he is one of the best ever.
100% mate. He’s been key to the success over the last 3/4 years.

Not sure I understand. He’s paid millions a year, but he should be given a blank cheque at 32 / 33 because not to do so is disrespectful, something like that?

I just like him, what he stands for and want him to stay at the club. I think he and Milner are essential as leaders and standard setters within the club they have definitely created the culture. I don’t see Hendo as the sort of guy who will be looking for an outrageous contract so I’m sure something will be sorted out.

Haven’t seen anyone say he should be given a blank cheque?

          Jordan Henderson

As usual, Kenneth is arguing for the sake of arguing.

I’ve seen mentioned in one of these articles that talks started before the euros. So I would say it’s a bit early in saying that there’s an impasse. Newspaper talk because there’s not much going on at the moment?

I did read an article saying that talks are progressing well.

I guess there’s **** all for journalists in that?

We cannot afford to do what Barcelona does, and allow an ageing team to financially burden us past their sellby date.

It nice that we can keep Milner and Henderson around, but that should be secondary to having a team that can win things. Our income growth is pushing its limits. We can only afford so many footballers on top wages. We need to sell or release players at some point to free up funds.

No one is indispensible, and Henderson, despite his achievements, has also been out injured a lot. I think we need to weigh this against any wage demands, and contract length.

It’s not idle newspaper chat when Joyce, Pearce, Maddock and King are all reporting it. The club and Henderson must be miles apart for the trusted journos to have been briefed like this.

They might be miles apart but talks have just started, so to me it’s only paper talks to kick up a story which is a non story at this moment.

I saw Virgil picking up on a Mirror journo a few days ago about an article that the journo put out to assert that Virgil is leading a revolt in the Dutch national squad about the appointment of Van Gaal as national coach stating that it was completely false.

Which is why one needs selling now to get some money in for new blood. We've seen their peak, they aren't going to get better. Sell one and invest. Great servants.

It's not paper talk. Joyce, Pearce and the rest have been briefed for a reason. Doesn't matter if the talks only recently started, it can still already apparent to both sides that they've been hugely unproductive. Hence the media tactics.

Think this would have happened last summer if not for Covid.

Interesting times for us, where is our next serious cash injection coming from. We need one, or klopp to find another lewandoski etc.

I suspect the club may have plans beyond the next 12 months

Salah on the verge of signing a new contract. I’d imagine there is a view on Succession planning. I doubt it is spending £200m on Mbappe. Where it becomes interesting is next summer - Halaands release kicks in and Mbappe could be on a ‘free’.

With Hendo - I’d just be surprised to see us lose a pivotal player… but who knows.
