Henderson is becoming increasingly injury prone, I don’t think he’s going to have the same durability Milner had as he gets into his 30s.

I think it makes sense to let his contract run and see if a short term extension makes sense closer to the time.

Wonder how Henderson will fare into his 30s...will he be an exception to the rule, like Maldini or a Ronaldo and keep producing, or will he fade away and become a bit-part player. Keep him on his current deal and re-evaluate in a years time. Or even 2 years, if we are willing to let him leave on a free rather than (in our eyes) over pay.

Bit of a storm in a teacup this - basically we've got the next 12 months to reach an agreement before things start to get a bit stressy

Run it down. I'd like to think we'll have some new midfielders by then.

Yep seem to be going that way and having to pay for the pleasure. When the ESL was being mooted they were all sanctimonious from behind their pay wall

Don’t think it’s clickbait tbf, journos are clearly being briefed, from Hendo’s camp presumably

His stock is reasonably high, if a bid around £25m came in then it's not a ridiculous deal

We cannot afford to let him leave this Summer. Absolutely not. I am totally ok with him running his contract down and leaving on a free aged 33 but to leave now on a reduced fee would be absolutely awful for us given we've just lost Gini!

Can’t see any of it happening tbh. But we do have a lot of key players reaching this stage of their careers. If they are going to be in our first team still, we need to pay them the money, but if that’s not clear, we should be investing in youth.

Can we rely on him though? I don't think his body is up to it any more

I'm not a doctor but even if he's not able to start every single game we need him as he is an absolutely outstanding player and club captain.

It might well be he fancies a movie abroad before he's finished and if that's the case we may have to accept it, but if not we simply cannot let him and Gini leave in the same window.

And we won’t. But ultimately, it’s less about who leave us, but about who joins, because there is not one single player that we couldn’t cope with leaving if the recruitment is ambitious enough. Eg While we still have VVD, Hendo is replaceable on the pitch and off.

Bit of a cold attitude to have to players, especially as we aren't club management isnt it? Bit of a different conversation if he wants to go and challenge himself abroad. But it doesnt seem to be that.

Id be gutted if we let him go over this, he has given me a sense of pride in the club with his behaviour off the field that I think has been lacking from the owners. He is as much part of Liverpool now as anyone who's gone before him. Proper club legend who has earnt the right to be here.

When I think of Liverpool Captains, he is one of the best ever.

Much as I love Hendo, it's not cold, just pragmatic. Sentiment has little place on the pitch. Players eventually outlive their usefulness, and unless they are willing to accept a lower wage etc, then at some point you have to bite the bullet and let them go.
