Maybe we all got him wrong and it was a nicely orchestrated persona and now it has been exposed there is no need bothering carrying on and you can just act a dick all the time freely.

Obviously don't know his circumstances but things didn't go well in Saudi for him, Ajax offered him a way out, made him captain, they are challenging for the Dutch title and still in the Europa League, you feel he owes them some loyalty. It's not as if it's someone like Real Madrid or Barcelona that want him either. Monaco aren't going to win the French league but are still in the CL, hardly seems like burning your bridges for.

Bizarre behaviour from him in recent years which goes against how he came across for a majority of his time here (notwithstanding his contract strops like Mark says).

Ajax are a much bigger club than Monaco too.

Don’t know. Probably not a great sign that his agent is also Trent’s agent though.

Ah just leave him alone. He just wants to go to France to help grow the game there and make cultural changes from within.

Did he say that after the game last night.

Prick move alright, he probably wants to play one more game in the champions league.

He's odd these days. Seems to have quite a large ego when there really shouldn't be one

Is this a tax issue do you reckon?

Yeah what's he up to? Captain and going for a league title. Now wanting to up and leave for Monaco? Odd. Surely he owes Ajax for getting him out of Saudi and sticking by him even though he was awful last season.

Is he really just chasing the money?
