All the best Hendo lad. Probably the best move for him and us, I wish him all the best and regardless of what people think about him, he will always be a club legend for what he achieved as Captain. YNWA Jordan.

It was the bit when he said "and even on scaffolding" that broke me.

Don't think we can be too hard on the guy, we tried to swap him for Dempsey FFS. Take the Saudi stuff out of it and look at the facts. A good fee and huge wages off the books for an underperforming player nearing the last few seasons of his career. In addition to the money, he gets to be one of the better players and can be the first name on the teamsheet.

It's ignoring the people they serve over the greed for one's self (or shareholders). Fiduciary responsibility blah blah - **** that.

He's told the groups he's supported to go **** themselves, money is more important to him. Same with corporates, **** their customers, money is more important them them.

And not to be too negative, as a player, I've been a big fan, his ban was the reason we lost the league in 2014 - we all knew it the moment he saw red.

But he's been excellent for us, some of his assists were Gerrardesque, he's scored a few worldies and had driven the team to great heights as a player and a leader.

I put something on when I was off out to get some food. Didn’t come back until this morning.

Probably could have worded it better. But it’s pretty obvious what I mean.

Think we can move this thread into Former players now as his transfer is confirmed!

More seriously, if you feel that certain sections of the board cannot tolerate opposing views then it's best to close down debate and discussion for their sakes.
                      Ha

All you do is insult “the player”, and look to wind up anyone who might put forward a more balanced view. Allied to that any poster who does value the contribution gets it too ‘his cult’ and then whenever anyone posts some facts or actual opinion you go radio silent. Then you reappear and start it all again.

You are and have been utterly one note for months, despite numerous people calling you on it.

If you want to debate, then debate. But you don’t. You put all this “captain crooner” ****e efich is annoying and purile, and you seem to take massive oleasure in the fact it pisses people off so you do it agai, and again, and again.

                      Thoughts?

There's nothing about it on the club website or Facebook (can't check Twitter because i don't have an account)

Can't recall such a high profile player 'leaving' in such circumstances.

Supposedly Ettifaq have to announce it first - they announced Moussa Dembele and some other guy they signed yesterday….. maybe they are doing some promo stuff first. It’s all very odd tbh and this just encapsulates the absurdity of it…… our captain in one of the most successful periods in our history being videoed training with his new club, saying his goodbyes and no official announcement yet

The whole thing is bizarre but he had great times here and I thank him for that, I don’t like how he handled his contract renewal or this but I’m glad we got a fee for a player who’s best days are behind him plus his large wages off the books. I also think it will benefit the group to have fresh leaders step forward

This from a playing perspective is good all round

He’s been offered the ‘10’ shirt apparently. Which should be triggering for some non cult members.

Yep, a weird ending, he could defo do with hiring a PR rep. But his was an amazing career with us. He fought back to earn a place in the team numerous times and that drive and desire is not easy to find. And then, looking forwards, exciting times with a full rebuild in midfield, we just need to get some bodies in.

I’d be up for us getting a left field experienced type transfer also, but it’s not how we roll.

Sky Sports announced it as having been completed last night.

TBH a low key exit might be for the best early doors and have the thank you stuff drop later on.

Especially if we think the signing of someone new is close. Better to have the new signing get the headlines than have his arrival at the club be buried under Henderson stuff.

and not like Henderson has not said goodbye himself either.

“I’m not sure I have any words to sum up how I’m feeling right now. I’m in the dressing room for the last time so as you can imagine it is very emotional,” Henderson started.

“But I needed to somehow try and explain what these last 12 years have meant for me and my family.

“I can still remember that June night back in 2011 clearly, being dead excited but then becoming more nervous as the move from Sunderland became a reality.

“It was hard leaving there, I have to be honest, my hometown, my club. But when Liverpool come knocking, you don’t say no.

“Driving in through those old Melwood gates, meeting Damien (Comolli, former director of football), this spinning feeling in my stomach, feeling a little shy meeting Sir Kenny – it all seemed like yesterday.

“When I see the footage back now, I’m just a kid. Who would have ever imagined that night how the next 12 years would go.

“I can’t lie, there has been hard times, really hard times. But when I look back on my career at Liverpool, it will always be the good times I remember.

“And those good times, again, where do I start?

“Being made the captain of Liverpool Football Club was one of the greatest honours of my life.

“From the day the armband was passed to me, I did everything I could to behave how a Liverpool captain should.

“But the biggest honours at Liverpool weren’t personal ones, they were collective.

“All of us, all of you. Together.

“Starting in Madrid with number six, the most perfect night. Probably my favourite night, actually.

“You’ve seen it, I’m sure, but the emotion. It was impossible not to be emotional.

“But then when we came home there were no words for that experience, you were everywhere. Literally everywhere, in the trees, windows, on roofs, on cars, lampposts and even on scaffolding.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving us that welcome. Not just once but to do it again even after we lost the Champions League final last year says everything about the club and its supporters.

“The best in the world. There can be no doubt, there is no doubt.

“And then bringing No. 19 home, we knew as players what ending that wait meant to you. We knew how important it was to make Liverpool champions again.

“And that leads me on to Anfield. The most special place in the world to play football, how can anyone think it isn’t?

“I’m sad I won’t have the chance to play at the bigger Anfield but I know what impact it will have on the opponents.

“I guess the thing I want to say most of all to you is just simply, thank you.

“Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your club, thank you for your support in good times and bad.

"Thank you for all the support on EST after I put in comments about myself using my Bootroom account"

“Thank you for all the sacrifices and commitment you made and will continue to make to follow us all over the world.

“Just know, I will always be a Red. Until the day.

“Thank you for everything, you’ll never walk alone. Jordan.”
