I don't think anyone in the side is, only one who might be is Alisson but even he has made a few mistakes this year.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostVVDs form this season has been a worry. Everyone else can get to **** based purely on this season alone
Its completely ****ing mental how good we were most of last season, and how abjectly awful we are this. Bizarre
VVD and Robertson have been average at times and last night both were very shakey. Not as off it as TAA and Gomez but nowhere close to their old levels.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

is it? whats one thing he excels at? other than running around chasing the ball like a dog, which to be fair he was excellent at in his prime. He's average, he's the bloody definition of it. Im not taking away from his leadership, or role at the club, he's been a good captain and all that jazzzz. But in terms of actual skill and ability, with the ball at his feet, he is average. nothing will ever convince me otherwiseOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostThats harsh, this is what Man U and Everton supporters throw at him.
At his best he was the engine in a team that went on a few of the most incredible runs that football in England has ever seen. He captained a team to 3 CL Finals. You dont get to do that if you are average. I went to Anfield a couple of times in this period and it was then that you got to see his quality.
Same as with this team overall, given what was going on at City, he is unlikely to ever get the credit he deserves.
Our performance first half was excellent. It was a very competitive game where we made chances. Second half was a horror show littered with individual errors. Would we have won the game not likely. But take out Allisons mistake just before half time, Gomez not hacking Vinicius just after - it would have been a different game. After that it was one way traffic and the bench had nothing to counter it.

I think at his best he was absolutely pivotal in our best years, His ability to press and tackle to pressurise players. Also, his ability to switch the point of attack, with incisive short passing.
If people think he has been bang average for his entire career at Liverpool, then we will just have to agree to disagree.
I felt in seeing him live, his quality and importance to the team really shone. To get zero recognition for that... well... we all see the game differently.
Prior to that, in the Gerrard slip season, again he was one of our most important players and his red card vs City which meant he missed the following games, arguably cost us the League.
Bang average...Modifying post.

He is a player who needed a certain level of physicality in order to fully utilise his tenacity and reading of the game.
In many ways he was a modern day Deschamps.
Just looked at the style of play section on Deschamp's wiki page and this bit you could almost swap in Henderson's name and say it was a fair description of him at his peak.
Deschamps's ability to perform this role was made possible due to his high work-rate, tenacity, stamina, vision, reliable distribution and technique, and his efficacy at pressing and tackling opponents. He also had an excellent positional and organisational sense, and was known for his tactical intelligence, versatility, and his leadership as a footballer
He no doubt can still see the spaces in play, can read what is going on, can see the pass about to be played but simply is that second too slow, that little bit less strong, has that bit less stamina to do what he used to do at a high level.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I’d disagree on the tactical aspect - Deschamps was levels above most players in this senseOriginally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostHe is a player who needed a certain level of physicality in order to fully utilise his tenacity and reading of the game.

I did use the word almost.
It is a description that ticks a lot of boxes for how Henderson was from say 2017 to 2021.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
