I think if he doesn't get games now (under a strong manager) then he'll turn out like Downing.

Yeah he definitely needs games and to be encouraged to take more responsibility/risks when he does play.

Not sure he'll ever become a good player for us, he may be tailor made for a mid/bottom table club in the future though. I think he'll turn into a good player. Hope he manages it for us buts its hard to see it happening at this stage.

I'm not convinced he'll ever be a good player for us.

His mental strength is his biggest enemy and playing safe, which he does way too often, will not get him a place in starting 11.

He can do well in his professional career but I think the club of our magnitude is too big of a mountain to climb for a footballer like him.

Quite possibly, hence saying IF he can grow some stones. Should his opportunities dwindle I think dww is right in saying it would be best for everyone for him to move on, but I still have that glimmer of hope he will find a good place mentally and start to fulfill his potential.
