Fair enough but sometimes that perspective is not only bull****, but also bad form and pretty harmful for a young player trying to make his way in the game.
Henderson is not even in the team, how can anybody Judge him, its almost key stroke for key stroke the abuse he is getting compared to Lucas .. theres been several games were hes been excellent, actually not so quietly went about his business but really put himself about verbally at the very least on the pitch, performed well, kept it tight and did a dam fine job and yet he was still **** in many peoples eyes ... I just wish the same people who thought Lucas would be ****e would learn to give players a little more space to prove them wrong ... Another classic is Enrique ... he is obviously a class player .. who recently went through a dip in form .. for what ever reason although obviously he was coming back from injury ... Anyways .. again posters saying he was **** ... hes not winger and hes no Lb .. oh really ? well hes scored 1 and made 2 and kept 3 clean sheets in recent games .. how anybody can call that guy **** is beyond me .....
Whilst people are entitled to there opinions, people are also entitled to say said opinions are utterly barmy
I pretty much totally agree. I personally like to keep my criticism of players to myself. But instead try and look for positives. Just me though
Never compared him to Lucas. Just said he was calling on the spirit of Lucas to help him through difficult times as half a joke. Seem's to be getting his head down, not moaning and getting on with it, the way Lucas did.
Sorry If I wasn't clear but my comment about comparison with Lucas was not directed at you
He's starting to look like a useful player. No big surprise that a young player signs for big club for big money and struggles first season. What is a surprise is there are so many 'fans' these days who expect a player to click straight away. Rather keep Henderson than Sahin, although it was to be expected that Sahin might struggle to get to grips with the pace. They both need minutes on the pitch.

Perhaps its just me, but when you are on a team, part of a team, you support that team ... the only players I have really got stuck into over the years, off the top of my head was Diouf .. but thats mainly because hes a ****ing cunt, I just think its like ****ting on your own team mates .. and lets be honest there is some ****ing numpties out there ... Fair enough a large section of this website would probably put me in that category .. all good .. but I think there needs to be balance .. the same way people get stuck into players, for being **** .. I tend to get stuck into posters ..not personally if I can help it .. because I genieunly think it has a negative effect on the team in the long run ... what boils my piss is the ammout of people who have so obviously been heavly influenced by the football press, I dont want to say media because thats almost a clique at this stage
Like it or not .. people judged Carragaher unfairly all throughout his career and hes just about the best ****ing Ambassador for this the club you could hope for, does tons and tons of charity work in Asia quitely and just about a honest as solid and sound a player you could hope for ... does it count for much ... no in 2012
Lucas ... absolutely hammered .. wrongly. end of story.
and Now Henderson .. the new whipping boy ... because we have to have one ... well Its not funny .. its poor form and it just stinks of a lack of class ... if he gets a run of 10 games and he stinks the place out then fine .. but until then .. lets give the lad some space to prove himself

Just the complete conviction that those who didn't rate Lucas were always wrong. We may have been wrong and Lucas rubbish and we over emphasised the good about his game.

I was more positive about Lucas during the beginning of his Liverpool career than anybody I know, I could see he had real ability. He was guilty of bottling out of challenges and that's why people got frustrated with him. He's an excellent player now so it doesn't really matter, I recognise that although they are different types of players Henderson seems to be at a similar level now that Lucas was earlier on and I believe he has the ability to become an excellent player too. I've never slagged off either Lucas or Henderson even though I could see why some supporters were giving them stick. Some people on here (not you DWW) just can't accept that there might be an acceptable alternative view to their own.
I think part of my issue is that much of the discussion deals in absolutes only (I'm not meaning to single you out - it's just you used a phrase that tends to set me off, see later). This becomes particularly problematic when looking at psychological aspects of player performance. By which I mean saying things like 'bottling out' - I think in a lot of cases what can be seen as a lack of desire is either a physical or technical flaw and a different vision of the game (in which tackling is thought of as less of a core discipline - much as Alonso has said). It seems to me that some views are a sort of default that prevent us from noticing when we should be less certain of our views as they are reinforced by people around us with similar interpretations.
That said I kind of agree with henderson. For me the important parallel is that both seem willing to work hard on their game without complaining or showing frustration. Even if Henderson doesn't turn out to be the player I thin/hop he will I'll still like him for that.

. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Ahh I see

I thpought he decent games yesterday, and he was feeling the virus thing as well. The thing he really must improve is tackling/duelling. It looks like he tries to win them all by being clever, but sometimes you just need to use pure strength.
