If we take this season as being the result of an injury, then what would be his excuse for a very average season last season?
He had a good season in 2013/14, but was so so again the two seasons before it.
He is five seasons at the club now and we are still waiting for his emergence as a quality midfielder.
Right now I have far more confidence in Can becoming a quality player than Henderson. If a non supporter watched them both play, he would be forgiven if he thought the 22 year old German was the senior player who was five seasons at the club and club captain.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Lucas can't be captain, he's nowhere near our best 11 anymore, if he's even still here next season. Doubt Milner will be enough of a regular next season either.Originally posted by danperkins View PostLucas for me but he might not be a mainstay. Should have been him in the first place IMO. Probably Milner I suppose. Not much else.
Can is emerging as the obvious choice now..

I agree, was just trying to be diplomatic about this season & to be fair he got 6 Goals & 10 Assists last season. Much like Allen and Milner, IMO he is much better when allowed to get further forward. But he was built up to be better than he was by Liverpool FC supporters, we tend to do that alot. He's a good squad player to have to be fair to him, but I doubt very much anyone would have ever thought Jordan Henderson would be the LFC captain. Was a poor choice in the first place IMO.
Been saying for awhile now, I don't think we have many leaders in our squad. Lucas was the obvious choice for me for captain but whether he is in Klopp's plans or is considered a regular, i'm not so sure. Can is talented but also young and inconsistent. It was a masterclass performance vs Villareal but let's not pretend he's been playing like that all season. He's has improved under Klopp like many others but is still inconsistent and learning. I really like Can's determination and attitude, worked his bollox off to get back for the Villareal game, shows character, but he's still learning.
I really don't know who should be our captain but at the moment to be honest, it's probably Milner who is the strongest candidate IMO. Regular starter and Klopp seems to like him, good attitude & is experienced. Lovren actually is playing like a captain at the moment but he has just started to improve and is a bit gung-ho to be a captain.Last edited by danperkins; 07-05-16, 01:45 PM.

Yep, daft suggestion re Lucas. Agree on Can, he's been leading this team for a while anyway, he bosses people about, he leads with the way he plays, he never gives up, he's brilliant. And he's ****ing German!! He's perfect.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostLucas can't be captain, he's nowhere near our best 11 anymore, if he's even still here next season. Because we were talking about who people think should be captain, everyone giving their opinion and my choice wass Lucas butttt Klopp doesn't seem to consider him a mainstay in the team.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostThen why even suggest Lucas in the first place?
Can ahead of Milner, he's the future.
Milner is vice captain as is at LFC, has captained England, is experienced & seem to embody exactly what Klopp wants in a player. Just seems a bit more logical to me than Can. It's still early days for Can and if he improves and learns maybe a captain's role at senior level might be in the cards for him.

Lovren's turn around would be the most surprising thing in any normal season, it's only just overshadowed by Leicester as it is

Think Hendo might actually struggle to get into the team now. Who's he taking a place off? Milner is a better version of him, and he isn't taking Can's place
Dan is right. Lucas should have got the nod over Henderson, although we'd still be in the "find another cqptain" boat now too
And therein lies a fundamental issue. In days gone by we'd have 3 or 4 legitimate claims to the captaincy, now we have no absolute standoutsI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I have noticed in the last few games he has really been giving it out to the lads....Originally posted by Norbs View PostLFC community December 2015... "That's not even funny, the clown is a disgrace"
