Seeing these stats in after so many games now it's becoming a trend.Originally posted by Irishnev View Posthttps://twitter.com/lfcdata/status/934536804061106176
He is struggling at the moment and one of the real weak links in the team. He had 55% passing accuracy vs Sevilla and he is supposed to be the fulcrum of the team.
I really hope next season CB, CM and GK are improved on.

Henderson is getting a lot of stick, but he really isn't suited to the role he's being asked to play. Playing the role he played the year we finished second he was a much better player.
The question is why is he playing in his current role? Is it because injury is preventing him playing his previous role, is it because he is the best suited player we have to that role? - if so where does he play when we bring someone more suited in? Is he just being levered into the side because he is captain? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yep, he was much better suited to a more advanced midfield role or box to box.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostHenderson is getting a lot of stick, but he really isn't suited to the role he's being asked to play. Guess it’s his injuries and/or a lack of options at No.6/DM that has him playing there now. I’d say Can is our best option in that role, but he’s never going to play ahead of the captain with his contract situation.
Really our need for a true No.6 is up there with our need to improve our defenders. With Can and Coutinho seemingly on their way, we’ll need a couple of midfield replacements as well as the long overdue new CBs. Hopefully we’ll get them and there’ll be at least a couple of leaders among them, and maybe the new captain..

Would love to see Keita and Goretzka is a midfield trio that had quality deep playing midfielder in it as Keita and Keita and Goretzka actually play in a similar manner despite the obvious physical differences. Both work their arses off in attack and when defending, the main difference betyween them for me is Keita has more pace and dribbling ability whereas Goretzka has the size, and strength to be able to go head to head with the more agricultural players when he needs to.
Would not have to be a destroyer type DM behind them. A player who is able to read play, intercept play and is mobile. Maybe a player like Saul or Jorginho .
Keita for me is just an unbelievable transfer for us to have made. He was stupidly good in the Bundesliga last season and he seems to be going up a level this season. The guy looks like he is going to be a top class box to box midfielder and Goretzka looks to have the talent to be not far behind Keita as a top class box to box midfielder in his own right.
With Goretzka able to sign a pre contract in January to move elsewhere, I would hope that Klopp and the club would be trying hard to throw the sort of figures and ambition at him that makes us his club of choice, or even trying to buy him in January so he would get January to May to settle in.
Get genuine quality into our midfield alongside Keita next summer and our back line would end up having less to deal with than it does now (not that we still would not need upgrades at the back.)I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Maybe that's his eventual position. I'd still say we need another more established No.6 for the immediate future.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostDidn't we just read who the solution for number 6 is? Put Trent there!
Besides, Trent at No.6, Gomez at CB - now we need 2 new right backs

Hendo seems are decent guy but the simple fact is that we have gone from Steven Gerrard to Jordan Henderson as the captain of LFC.
It's a tough act to follow for anyone but the fact Henderson is and has remained our captain IMO shows exactly the issue of mentality in our side. The lack of big characters and leaders on the pitch has been mentioned so often. I have no doubts though that the change of role is something that clearly Hendo cannot deal with, is it his fault? Nope, that lies with Klopp. We have left ourselves with 3 box to box midfielders in Hendo, Can & Wini all naturally progressive that have had to curb their natural instincts to burst forward. I don't know if this was on purpose and Klopp wanted these guys buzzing around in the midfield, high energy closing down spaces etc. I would like to think that was Klopps plan and that is wasn't a case where we just got it wrong in the transfer market and have had to settle with playing players out of position... not sure if the latter sounds more believable. Hendo has been the one chosen to protect the backline, unfortunately for him his defensive positional sense and awareness is just not there, again not his fault. The same as Can and Wini, asked to be more reserved and to play a role that goes against every instinct they have. To be honest, i am looking forward to when we have all 3 out of our starting 11.
As regards Hendo, the chap is being asked by Klopp do play this role and he is a worse player for it & we are a worse team for it. I was never a huge fan of Hendo but playing further forward and making those lung bursting runs in to the box was a huge part of his game that has been completely negated and he was racking up some decent stats when playing there. I would hazard a guess he is as frustrated playing that role as we are watching him.
The balance in that midfield has been wrong for a long time, it does nothing to help the backline & because we are so slow to release the ball to the forwards.. it does effect the attacking side of things. So many sideways passes and easy 5 yarders just wasting time and opportunity. Can you imagine what the likes of Gerrard & Alonso could achieve, picking out quick passes and playing raking long balls to the likes of Salah & Mane.
Hendo seems a good lad who has been unlucky with injuries & being asked to play a different role in recent years. I don't think it is doing him or LFC any favours. He is not captain material either IMO.
It’s not complicated with him though, simply not up to the standard as a player and evidently way out of his depth as a captain. The boy is not a leader at all and nowhere near good enough to even lead by example."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
