On his day, he looks the part, he really does. But he still gives away too many silly fouls.

I think he tries a bit too hard, if that makes any sense (because of the expectation).

The only thing he does well is run around like a dog chasing the ball.

His tactical awareness is pretty much nil.

Except Lallana is far better at this than Henderson too as he can actually move forward with the ball and provide cutting edge

He might be finished in that more advanced role since his recurrence of his injury, hence the deeper role so less running.

That might be it. But unfortunately he does not have the footballing ability or the nous to play the deep midfielder role at a high level.
I dont think he is good enough to command a regular starting place at LFC due to his injuries.

To me, his worst crime is getting the ball and giving immediately back to the player he asked for it from. Meaning they're in the same position but being closed down, it invited pressure and he does it 20 time a game. Even to Mignolet! It's completely needless and the cynic in me thinks it to look like he's taking responsibility demanding the ball...

That period in the 1st half that lead to Chelsea pressure was down to him and Milner going right off the boil, sloppy passes, being walking past in midfield and failing to put their foot on the ball.
In a nutshell mate. Does my frigging head in he does.

The captain of LFC should lead by example, when heads are down the captain should be able to motivate the side, when pressure is on the captain should be that calm head that can show composure within the side & when the chips are down the captain should be able to pull his team up by the scruff of the neck. Hendo seems are decent guy but the simple fact is that we have gone from Steven Gerrard to Jordan Henderson as the captain of LFC.

It's a tough act to follow for anyone but the fact Henderson is and has remained our captain IMO shows exactly the issue of mentality in our side. The lack of big characters and leaders on the pitch has been mentioned so often. I have no doubts though that the change of role is something that clearly Hendo cannot deal with, is it his fault? Nope, that lies with Klopp. We have left ourselves with 3 box to box midfielders in Hendo, Can & Wini all naturally progressive that have had to curb their natural instincts to burst forward. I don't know if this was on purpose and Klopp wanted these guys buzzing around in the midfield, high energy closing down spaces etc. I would like to think that was Klopps plan and that is wasn't a case where we just got it wrong in the transfer market and have had to settle with playing players out of position... not sure if the latter sounds more believable. Hendo has been the one chosen to protect the backline, unfortunately for him his defensive positional sense and awareness is just not there, again not his fault. The same as Can and Wini, asked to be more reserved and to play a role that goes against every instinct they have. To be honest, i am looking forward to when we have all 3 out of our starting 11.

As regards Hendo, the chap is being asked by Klopp do play this role and he is a worse player for it & we are a worse team for it. I was never a huge fan of Hendo but playing further forward and making those lung bursting runs in to the box was a huge part of his game that has been completely negated and he was racking up some decent stats when playing there. I would hazard a guess he is as frustrated playing that role as we are watching him.

The balance in that midfield has been wrong for a long time, it does nothing to help the backline & because we are so slow to release the ball to the forwards.. it does effect the attacking side of things. So many sideways passes and easy 5 yarders just wasting time and opportunity. Can you imagine what the likes of Gerrard & Alonso could achieve, picking out quick passes and playing raking long balls to the likes of Salah & Mane.

Hendo seems a good lad who has been unlucky with injuries & being asked to play a different role in recent years. I don't think it is doing him or LFC any favours. He is not captain material either IMO.

Its obvious hes very sensitive to peoples opinions of him, and wants to loved and would flourish from it, but he gets abuse, helps no one.

I think the weight of captaincy and this position is taking its toll on him, and being the successor to Gerrard has never helped with its comparisons.

He is struggling at the moment and one of the real weak links in the team. He had 55% passing accuracy vs Sevilla and he is supposed to be the fulcrum of the team.

I really hope next season CB, CM and GK are improved on.

Can’t disagree with that, but I thought he won 1 aerial duel , but yeah none or 1 doesn’t really make much difference does it.

I read some discussion on RAWK about Henderson, and then they found an interview on Pep Ljinders, who mentioned a youth player being a No.6, being 'our Ruben Neves' (bought crazily by Wolves).
"We played all season almost the same style. We had 3-diamond-3. We started with the ideas of a high pressing game and that we don’t defend our goal, we defend the midline. The idea was the attackers were the first defenders, so it was total football.

And there are certain positions in that structure where overload situations, offensively and defensively, develop. These are key positions. Six and 10.

We try and find the best player to construct the game out from the back, to have the right timings, to have the pause and ability to speed it up. And Trent always plays there. No. 6. My Ruben Neves. I always put Trent at 6. Why? Because every attack he is the main guy, the pivot, the lighthouse of the team, guiding the rest.

And the second key position is the No. 10 position. Because this player has to structure the press, to be able to jump to the centre-halves at the right time and he gets stressed offensively and defensively. And my 10 was Ben Woodburn for the whole season.

Trent and Ben went through a big big development since then—and the very biggest development was Jurgen putting them in.
Now, the system may not be the same, but I was interested to see that the position focus in the discussion was all about being tactically brilliant. They'd be excellent positionally (i.e. Alonso), decent mobility, and able to control the tempo of the game.

I do think Coutinho will be off next summer, and I expect Keita to take his place. I hope we push for Goretzka too, as Keita and Goretzka will serve as multi-functioning midfielders, with pace, power and intelligence.

There were painful moments last night with Henderson, but I think our central midfield as a whole needs a little rethink.

If Henderson were to leave, what club would he leave for? That's usually a decent barometer of a players ability to me and with Henderson I can't imagine it'd be as a starter for anyone above us.

Midfield defo needs fixing, luckily we have an absolute genius of a player coming in there so at worst next season it's going to be very, very good but if we do the right business we could quite easily end up having at worst a top 3 midfield in the world, things can quickly change. What this guy is doing at 22 is totally obscene and I'm still shocked he actually agreed to come here without knowing our future re CL!!
