He had one brilliant season to be fair, during that time when he was in the team we won, simple as that. Then he got injured and has never been quite the same player. These last couple of performances have been nothing short of shocking ... Djimi Traore had a better first touch

He is not as bad as people are making out but he is currently playing like a man bereft of confidence and match fitness. Way too early to right him off. I do agree he should not be captain though

I'm not a big fan of his as you well know but I don't think he's fit enough and he's certainly not confident, you can see that in his play and demeanour.

His passing is downright awful at the moment. He always seems to pass with the top of his foot rather than the side which means he ends up skewing the pass or over-hitting it. Weird passing style.

A break for a few weeks would probably do him good. He doesn't look well either in the face, looks pale and a tad sick. I wonder if he has a condition he doesn't know about.

Only 3 games in this season but to me it is so clear we still need improvement in the CM and LB areas. Quite shocking we haven't done more, but I can only assume due to the costs relating to the new stand, JK's hands have been tied somewhat this summer.

Henderson clearly has problems and does need a break from the first ten for his own benefit right now.

At the minute, as long as him and Mane are fit, I don't mind who fills the other 9 slots.

I think the armband is weighing heavy on him - time to make someone else captain and take the pressure off him.

Give the armband to someone who isn't likely to be as affected by it - Milner would be my choice.

That pass at the end summed him up right now. It was a relatively simple through ball and he battered it out the park, it was like watching someone playing Sunday League. He's better than that of course, and it's a ball he would hope to be able to play through but when the simple things are becoming problematic it's definitely time to take a step back.

I'd be surprised to see him play on Saturday, and personally I'd be happier with Milner back in midfield and Moreno back at LB. it's such an important position we cannot afford to be carrying someone... Let alone our captain.

He is nowhere near as bad as he gets made out to be, but I think he is also nowhere near as good as some make him out to be.

That one very good season gets spoken about a lot, and his injuries get used as a reason for him having two seasons since then that had a mix of average to poor performances happening more often than should for a supposed top player.

But he also had two seasons with us before his one very good season, and those two seasons were hardly stuffed with good performances either.

This season is going to be his sixth season at Liverpool and to date he has had one very good season from that, so maybe that good season was the exception and his other four seasons with us are a truer show of his level.

Think I said it before but if there had been a way to take Henderson's physical size and abilities and marry them to Joe Allen's mentality and awareness then you would get some player. Each of those players had in spades what the other was missing to be a very good player.

In fairness to him though, he is being played in a position that doesn't suit him. He has no defensive positional sense & can't dictate play. When he has been played in a more attacking role he has got a fair amount of assists & makes some brilliant runs into the box to support the attackers. playing where he is, he cannot do that and it is taking away from his natural game. I feel the same way about Can & Wijnaldum playing there, although Can does a better job than both.

I wonder if we should opt for a more European style of approach where who the captain is isn't such a big deal. I read somewhere that last year under Klopp we had more people wear the armband than in any other season in the clubs history. In the absence of a natural leader maybe having some system where there wasn't a formal club captain but the armband was passed around on a game to game basis (on what criteria I have no idea yet) but maybe something like this would encourage more players to show more responsibility and develop leadership skills, rather than looking to someone else to take control.

yeah agree with this. Their really is no natural leader so passing it around will take the emphasis and a bit of pressure away. Also, it may spur some players on wearing the band.
