Wanted to create a Skrtel & Agger thread but there's probably one already. Or I'd jinx them both by doing so...

Loving this pairing so far. They seem to really bring the best out of eachother - Skrtel looks a lot more confident now and seems to have weeded out the clumsiness in his game. Agger is just class.

Am I correct in saying that they've played together 11 times and we've conceded two goals?

    Long may it continue.

I think Skrtel is a right sided centre back, he plays there when he plays with Agger, but as Carragher is a right sided centre back, so when Carragher and Skrtel gets shifted to the left side. I know it seems like a minor point but I think it makes a big difference.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I also think Agger and Skrtel are more natural in terms of compensating for one anothers short comings. Carragher has been pivotal in developing both IMO, and has not been quite as terrible as has been made out recently, but it is definitely time for him to become a backup option.

That's a very good point and one I hadn't thought of. He also seems to have a better understanding with Agger than Carra, which is bizarre as they've only played together a handfull of times. He's calmer and happier to spend more time on the ball.

he's playing very well, yet he still scares the **** out of me when opponents run at him in our area or he has the ball at the back. I just get the feeling a cock up is only a moment away. but long may this form continue.

Not surprised the defence is playing so well, Carra clearly had a negative impact with his 'organisation' skills.

oh **** off will yer, there were times where skrtel playing would have meant trouble. carra has a lot still to offer. the two men in form are keeping their places, just be happy at that. when they are injured/suspended or out of form we have an experienced hand to come in and a young up and coming one. did we not win any games with Carragher playing this year?

Would be great if can get a decent run of games with a settled back 4. We were a bit all over the place at the back yesterday, but it was that type of frantic game. Agger gave Lucas a bit of stern advise at one stage which reminded me of Carra. The players are showing signs of progression and development, we are going in the right direction.

Skrtel looks so much more at home with Agger beside him & playing on right side of the CB position. I do be always worried when he plays, as he tends to be a bit rash, Aguero skinned him few times yesterday, but to be fair to Skrtel he has been excellent in last 4 games or so and i don't think it's done us any harm for Carra to drop to the bench.

Playing very well, settled CB pairing at the moment is definitely factor.
Two boys are playing very well....they're the men with the shirt and rightly so. Continue on so.

Oh....and Coates ain't getting a game anytime soon as long as he has the awful beard on his face.
