More claptrap from Rodgers. Aren't we going to be in exactly the same boat next season if Skrtel is paired with Agger? Or has Skrtel suddenly developed these magical leadeship and organisational skills while sitting on the bench?

Out of all the cups, 7th placed finish in the league with no euro qualification, and an 'important' player with six months less experience of the new system. I'm struggling to find the value to the team going forward.

Everyone is available for the right price. I'd much rather keep skrtel than Coates. I've said before but you don't go from being worth 20m to being crap in one season. Vocal organisation and leadership can come from someone else if necessary.

Or is Rodgers insisting Skrtel is not for sale so we get a fair price for him? The value of a player can drop if we are actively shouting from the roof tops that we want rid.

I was thinking that too, perhaps Brendan has learned his lesson after the Carroll fiasco last summer.
What is clear IMO is that Brendan doesn't rate Martin at all, why else would he permanently demote Skrtel to the bench in favour of a 35 year old Jamie Carragher ??
If it's a choice between keeping Skrtel as a bench warmer or selling him and using the money to bring in a quality CB I know which option I'd go for and I think Brendan is the same too.

With Carragher and almost certainly Coates leaving in the summer I would be reluctant to get rid of a third centre back at the same time. I'd hope to improve on Skrtel but I'd keep him as an option.

There is also the possibility that this extended period out of the first team spurs him on to be a better player.

Admit Skrtel wouldn't be a massive loss but i do find it strange his whole situation this year. Literally frozen out, has to be behind the scenes stuff.

We do need to sort out our backline alright but it's risky changing it too much. It really depends on who Rogers would replace him with. I believed it was Rafa time to go but not to be replaced with big Roy, same as i believe replacing Skrtel with Ashley Williams would be a mistake.

Frozen out? Not at all. He wanted someone with more organisational skills at the back and brought one in. I don't think this is strange or says anything about Skrtel being frozen out.

And our back line is being sorted. The amount of clean sheets this season shows it.

I'd be surprised if an offer of £12m+ came in to be honest, I'd imagine something closer to £8m, and for that I'd be tempted to hang on to him for a season and see how the new signings get on, as we'll probably end up spending that kind of money minimum.

I think more people were upset at the prospect of another first teamer being sold on after our recent history rather than being upset at Skrtel himself going.
