Admit Skrtel wouldn't be a massive loss but i do find it strange his whole situation this year. Literally frozen out, has to be behind the scenes stuff.
We do need to sort out our backline alright but it's risky changing it too much. It really depends on who Rogers would replace him with. I believed it was Rafa time to go but not to be replaced with big Roy, same as i believe replacing Skrtel with Ashley Williams would be a mistake.

Why is it strange? Carra has come in and done a better job.Originally posted by danperkins View PostAdmit Skrtel wouldn't be a massive loss but i do find it strange his whole situation this year. Literally frozen out, has to be behind the scenes stuff.

Why? Rodgers has said that he wanted more leadership at the back, he brought Carragher back in and he's played well, nothing more IMO.Originally posted by danperkins View PostAdmit Skrtel wouldn't be a massive loss but i do find it strange his whole situation this year. The disappointing thing for me is that a year ago he was playing well and was really highly rated, since then he's not been the same player and his value will now be a lot less than last summer. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Because if it was a case where he wanted more leadership at the back, surely Agger would have been binned aswell, as he's been just a culpable?Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostWhy? I've never been a huge fan of Skrtel to be honest but he was very good last season. Looking back now cashing in on him last year as you say with that value.. would have been a great option. Hindsight and all that.
If we replace him and get 12 -15- million... i just hope we don't spunk it away on Ashley Williams. Not saying Williams is ****, IMO he is a decent enough, run of the mill CB, but he is not better than Skrtel.

I don't think that reasoning bears any examination.Originally posted by danperkins View PostBecause if it was a case where he wanted more leadership at the back, surely Agger would have been binned aswell, as he's been just a culpable?
- Who else comes in? Carragher can only fill in for one player at any one time.
- He wanted more leadership. He got that by bringing in Carragher. There's no reason to bin Agger as well, even if there was a second Carragher in the squad.
- Agger has qualities that Skrtel and Carragher lack, specifically he can pass better. So dropping him would mean the team would lose something.
That doesn't mean you're wrong, just you have no support for the idea. In the absence of that I'd opt for the simplest explanation of events..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

More claptrap from Rodgers. Aren't we going to be in exactly the same boat next season if Skrtel is paired with Agger? Or has Skrtel suddenly developed these magical leadeship and organisational skills while sitting on the bench?
Out of all the cups, 7th placed finish in the league with no euro qualification, and an 'important' player with six months less experience of the new system. I'm struggling to find the value to the team going forward.

In that case, saying Skrtel lacks organisation and leadership skills won't do much for his value; Rodgers should have come up with a less detailed 'story'...."Martin's a very good player, but I wanted to make a change and Jamie was doing really well in training so I made a change and it worked out really well. Martin knows this can happen in football, and hasn't let it affect him, and has been really professional about it".Originally posted by Muddled View PostOr is Rodgers insisting Skrtel is not for sale so we get a fair price for him? The value of a player can drop if we are actively shouting from the roof tops that we want rid.

F*cking hell, like it matters that much what Rodgers says about anything..
