Totally unreliable, scared the **** out of me yesterday and as that ball dropped towards his head in the last minute, I ****ing knew he'd somehow contrive to **** it up. It seemed to happen in slow motion....waiting for Skrtel to find a way of ****ing it up. And he did, but got a bit lucky. **** him off ffs.

Complete liability and IMO one of the biggest issues at the back he instills panic in the rest of the defence.

I think one of the big problem with our defence has not just spanned from Skrtel - he seems to have similar traits to Sakho etc. They are good defenders, but seem to make the simple things look like rocket science. I remember once Sakho trying to simply clear a ball and instead turned and twisted, then got pickpocketed by the forward. Skrtel does the same. Simple things that should be second nature done badly. Whether its because they're told to play in a particular way or whatever, it seems like they over complicate things. Simple defensive decisions are replaced by complex thoughts and delays in decision.

Or am I looking at this in a daft way?

Sakho was great yesterday, our best defender which isn't difficult I grant you but he's been written off way too early by many, funnily enough written off by some who think Skrtel is useful. I think it's clear they are asked to play it around if they can rather than hoof it clear. It's why we get into a panic dicking around at the back so often, teams press us high while we try play it out and invariably put ourselves under needless pressure.

Sakho has some improving to do but he is clearly our best centre back. Strong, committed, front foot, aggressive and very good on the ball. If Lovren comes back when he's fit again - especially at Sakho's expense - Brendan can get to ****.

TBF, Skrtel's stats for that match on paper are much better.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

You know he will though unless Sakho puts in superhuman performances before then. Not a peep out of Brendan about Sakho yesterday despite a very good performance.

I'm a huge fan of Sakho, used to sign him all the time on FM, was buzzing when we signed him. He looks like a monster when he plays for France, but when he played for us seemed to look worse. Admittedly since returning from injury and his strop at the derby, he's looked much better. Skrtel needs to stop tugging on shirts, keep it simple when it needs to be and continue being a double hard cavalier ******* who scores immense bullet headers

Yeah but you need to add the paper stats with what your eyes see too and we saw calamity Skrtel do his best to **** it up twice while Sakho barely put a foot wrong. He even played it wide of Mignolet's goal that time rather than towards the goal just in case Mig ****ed it up and let it go over the line which he did

That was exactly my point in this same thread, when we talked about Agger lots of stats made him look great, but if you watched him individually, you could see that he was atrocious on so many occasions

Sakho (while still being a bit shaky) clearly appears to be the best of the lot and I hope that we start building our future defence with him in mind - the rest of them need to go...

The difference being that if you're that bad, you'll eventually get caught out, which is why our stats are so much worse with Skrtel, despite yesterday's anomaly, whereas we were always a better team with Agger. That's not manipulating the stats, it's a fact.

Also, you took great offence to these stats being posted, but they were in response to an article about our stats with and without certain players.

If I based Sakho purely on his LFC performances I'd be calling him average at best.

I'm not going to lay this at your door, but here are a few points I have about about Sakho:

                            * He was a regular in the defence last season, particularly the second half of the season and despite that our problems at the back continued.

                            * He makes basic errors at the back just as much as the rest of them (opinion as opposed to fact).

                            * He gets huge credit on Twitter, but this is mostly based on him supposedly not being a Rodgers signing.

                            * If Rodgers had signed him this season from So'ton, people would be calling him ****.

                            * Despite him being a huge figure head for the club, being a local boy and from their youth academy, PSG couldn't wait to ship him out the door.

Now, I don't hate Sakho. But I don't think he's done anything in an LFC shirt to make me want him to be a regular. In fact, I'd say the only reason I'd want him to start is because the others have been so bad. For me, Rodgers could sell every defender CB at the club and I wouldn't care less.
                            Forwards.......

Why would you build a defence around a player that you admit has been shaky?
