I assume Castles wouldn't have just replayed a Twitter-type daftness without checking it out somewhere, yes?
It could be a titbit Castles picked up a while ago and has been sitting on, waiting for an opportune moment or when he's short of a story. I don't see that as less (or more) plausible than the conspiracy theory.Originally posted by G View PostThe player named might be a mistake but the story will have come from somewhere.
Why release it now when the window is long gone and Agger stayed. It serves no purpose other the a **** stiring one.

I do too, but you seem to have honed the directing of your cynicism rather well

Yes, I do. And maybe I have too.
Assuming for a moment that it is from someone inside the club then surely it's as least as likely to be an individual with a personal or professional agenda against Rodgers as it is a political ploy from on high, don't you think?Originally posted by el matador View Postits started imo. Fsg have shown they can be ruthless.
Unless its a ploy to undermine him with a view to appointing a dof which Rodgers didn't want. But if he's not doing the business then what choice has he got..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

It's also something we can speculate about without it being totally uninformed. We have a lot more knowledge of politics and even journalism than we do about tactics and transfers and what individuals like players or managers might really be thinking or angling for.
You can analyse a system from outside and make inferences based on... F*ck it, you know all that better than I do.

everything is purely speculative. 2 plus 2 equal five. But the precise details in castles article suggest someone who knew intimate details. That's only a few people and they're all pretty high ranking imo.Originally posted by Neil Young View Post

If its a genuine leak it would more likely to have been authorised by fsg because otherwise the club keeps pretty schtum. That doesn't apply to Chang.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Maybe. But pretty much everyone agrees that at least some of the "precise details" are wrong.Originally posted by el matador View Posteverything is purely speculative. 2 plus 2 equal five. Although now you mention Chang, maybe it all came from him. Disgruntled employee, probably in a position to know the details of policy about Agger, knew Rodgers wanted a Swansea player to replace him but possibly not which one so took a guess...
It's as good a theory as any.

Originally posted by calvoboy View PostTo be fair though, most of those good wins were in the second half of the season. We limped through the group stage needing to beat olympiakos in our last game to go through. In fact there are lots of similarities between the first half of that season under rafa and now (soft goals conceded in the same manner week after week, some bad losses against birmingham at home and bolton and middlesborough away, but a good comfortable win vs Norwich and we put four past Fulham), and rafa only had three more points than rodgers after 19 games despite inheriting a top four side - that season we kicked on after Christmas though and won the big one. Mind you, would be some achievement for rodgers now to go on to finish fifth this season and win the uefa cup.
Not to turn into a Rafa thread and I think the comparisons are unfair, but I think the biggest asset Rafa had on his side was the promise through the achievements on his CV. If Brendan had won two La Liga's, one UEFA cup, and came to Anfield with his team and completely owned and humiliated us, then I don't think this thread would be 109 pages long. A manager with such a pedigree will always get time and patience at Anfield in his first season.
As I have said in my previous post, I am currently being optimistic about Brendan but that optimism is based on faith than rational logic. I think a lot of the people who are being slightly critical of Brendan in this thread are not being critical because they like to be critical. I think most of them have honestly looked for evidence of progress and could not see it or have not deemed it enough and thats why they are worried. I totally understand their perspective also.
