Rafa I'd imagine who was also known to have the odd rick as well. As you've said all managers make them it's how they react to them though that's important.
Rafa was regimental, incessant drilling down into players' heads about defensive shape and how to react to situations during games. Rodgers does leave it to the players a bit, especially our forward players. Thing is, I think we had a successful formula which worked for the best part of 10 games or so. Should have stuck to it and have players work towards coming into the system, rather than coming in as individuals. For example, Sturridge, despite his obvious quality, needed to work his way back into the system, rather than the other way round.
Completely agree about the Rodgers bit, we'd been playing a style that seemed to suit us well and had yielded a lot of goals and a decent return on points.
I get why he wanted to get Sturridge into the side as he like Suarez is a potential game winner but we shouldn't have compromised our midfield to have done so.
Pretty sure he'll have learnt his lessons from this and we won't see this again (I hope)
Brendan could end up being the instigator of his own downfall if he tinkers too much. What was even more glaring was the need of a 3rd midfielder to protect a shaky makeshift back 4. The opponents would add a man to midfield in response and this would create the space our forward craved and didn't have. Our extra man up front allowed them to do the same and gave them the opportunity to show Gerrard's weakness. We were out thought and outfought
If villa were choosing the ideal team we would select against their mobile, fast and excellent counter attacking team it would be our first half team. Two up front, two wide players, one midfield player and Gerrard playing as the dm.
Its absolutely perfect team and system to be countered. We played right into their hands and it cost us two points.

I pointed that out before the game. There were a few advocating the system we used yesterday. A little disappointed Brendan didn't see that prior to the game.
