Not the point at all. The point I was trying to make was that Rafa's greatest success was in his first year and as he developed the team and implemented his own style and signings he actually won less. Go figure.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

So did Souness. Should we have kept him too?Originally posted by alonso14 View PostAt least he won something.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Soon we'll be winning the most corners turned.Originally posted by Keyser Soze View PostWe win the possession stat most games, this season we're also winning the number of shots stat.
Ged? You must be joking, apart from the trophies he won, he won NOTHING!Originally posted by Rowan View PostThat's the point. Take away the trophies that our successful managers have won and they'll have won no more than the managers who won nothing. In reality if you discount the champions league and FA Cup from his time here then really Rafa was no better than Roy... And he had an extra 5 years... During the last 6 and he won exactly **** all in the last 4 of them.
Who has been our most successful manager since Kenny mk1? Ged?

His greatest success was, yes. But the quality and performance of the team improved after that and peaked well into his reign - around about the time the cowboys started screwing us over.Originally posted by Rowan View PostNot the point at all. I know!!! The sooner we stop using winning things as a barometer of success the sooner we get a successful manager. It's like science and ****Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostSoon we'll be winning the most corners turned.

That buys him a lot of time in my eyes

its all for your benefit mateOriginally posted by Kenneth View PostWell this Rafa talk is really interesting. Predictable, overly nostalgic, been done to death repeatedly and pointless as he won't be a contender, but interesting nevertheless.
while i wouldnt be 'all in' for rafa it more a question of who we can get and who might want to take on a job with possibly limited resources and a team defunkt of any passionremoving all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

You only have to mention Rafa's name on any LFC forum and it starts an argument, we need a manager who can unite the fanbase. Rafa divided the fans when he was here and he's still doing it 4 years after leaving
Just one of the many reasons it would be a bad idea to bring him back.
Sorry, don't want that at the club, we need to start with a clean slate.

That's fair enough mate but one thing that isn't on is people trying to belittle his achievements while at the club and that "he won with geds team" is a prime example. The same people forget to mention that he got to the 2007 Athens final a full 3 years after Ged left.Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostYou only have to mention Rafa's name on any LFC forum and it starts an argument, we need a manager who can unite the fanbase. I'll tell you one thing for sure Houllier wouldn't have got us anywhere near Istanbul if he'd have been manager.
