One thing we know is there are no easy wins in the prem. If we can't put teams away, and infact do the opposite by encouraging them on to us having missed a bucketload of chances we are going to struggle.Originally posted by Angryred View PostOne thing is for sure!...The honeymoon is well & truly over!...the hard work starts now!
We need to be ruthless.
We need to show fight.
We need to be up for the battle.Modifying post.

did anybody see Hansen on Match of the Day
Summed it up for me having watched the game. Said when he played he was always taught to play the ball out from the back. But he said the first 10 minutes or so it was priority to get rid of the ball if put under pressure rather than take the risk being dispossessed in that area of the pitch
they then played some video of Skrtel, Carragher and Agger getting robbed with the ball - all three had their head down concentrating on making a pass rather than either getting rid of the ball or looking for a pass

I don't think it is easy for anyone taking over at Anfield. Expectations are sooo high. A new manager needs a bit off luck as much as anything. Suarez tucking away one of his chances would have been exactly what we needed on Saturday to settle the nerves.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postover already? christ, patience really is a thing of the past.

A good showing at Anfield against City is a must. It would be a good time to announce the arrival of the new team.
If we were to fail to win the first 5 games the atmosphere around here would be nuts.Modifying post.

If we have no points by the end of august I should imagine that the pressure on the manager will be huge.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postover already? christ, patience really is a thing of the past.

I've got massive faith in the man. We just need to give him time. I don't really subscribe to the idea that he needs to hit the ground running or that the honeymoon is over. Saturday was massively disappointing, but Shankly's first game was a 4-0 home defeat to Cardiff. Imagine the outcry if the internet was available then!
I am not in any way saying that Rodgers is as good as Shankly, or the next Shankly, but just trying to highlight that we need to give him time. I really like him as our manager and think he'll surprise us all.Last edited by baronvonskidmark; 20-08-12, 01:47 PM.

but if its the bigger picture we're looking at and everybody has bought into rodgers ideas then surely we have to be prepared to overlook initial results.Originally posted by dizzycat View PostIf we have no points by the end of august I should imagine that the pressure on the manager will be huge.Always borrow money from a pessimist. Yup. I just think it's the initial reaction to defeat; posters will sound off when the final whistle goes, common sense kicks in when the rage has gone and then it's an objective look at the situation.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postbut if its the bigger picture we're looking at and everybody has bought into rodgers ideas then surely we have to be prepared to overlook initial results.

One thing is for sure is that already he is installing better systems, tactics and play than Hodgson. You can see the ideas Rodgers hashs set out can work, just as from very early on you could see the ideas Roy set out would not.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postbut if its the bigger picture we're looking at and everybody has bought into rodgers ideas then surely we have to be prepared to overlook initial results.
Rodgers biggest problem is definitely whether will he get the time to make it work. Thats why and when having a bit of luck and getting a few good early results will give him a platform to build upon.Modifying post.

Fans loved Rafa straight from the off because they had already seen his team dismantle ours in the CL. Now, yes, the Swansea side also played us off the park last season, but that was against an LFC side that had given up the ghost in the league. We were easy meat.Originally posted by peekay View PostI am a tad bit disappointed with Brendan for making that statement. woy would have been hung out to dry for saying something similar like that.
A team with Gerrard, Suarez, Reina, Lucas and our defense shouldnt go to West Brom and be outclassed, outfought and outthought. They also had a new manager, what was their excuse. And saying we need to expect such results in the future is not good.
We had some horrible performances in the league in Rafa's first year. However the fans adored him because they saw glimpses of his vision, his tactical genius, and an unquestionable desire to win in certain games.
The fans will be patient and accept such results as long as he shows the same proofs. Just making statements which imply I am trying to make this team play a superior level of football and it will take time wont cut it. we expect our managers to achieve the impossible. Whether that is good or bad I am not sure.
And oh, when you make statements along the lines of we are working on exciting signings, make sure they are exciting and they are in the bag.
Rafa also brought in some fancy foreign players from the likes of Real Madrid & Barca, as well as a highly rated young midfielder.
He lost a star striker but supposedly had a future star arriving in addition to Baros.
I think when Rafa arrived the league was much weaker and tbh at least initially he had more money to play with than Brendan. He still had to juggle but less so.
Rafa also took over a side that finished top 4, so he had a more solid footing.
Brendan takes over a side that has finished 7th, 6th & 8th in the last three seasons. He has been given virtually no cash since Kenny spent it all and yet us fans expect him to finish top 4, or he's failed.
He's done well to bring in three players that in future I believe will be good players for us. But they cost about £28m and on a combined wage of 110k a week.
Bare in mind Augero is on at least 250k a week, Yaya Toure is on 250k a week - and I think that might be AFTER tax! How can we seriously expect Rodgers to turn us from also rans to Champions of England? It's just not realistic.
Over the coming years we have to pray the FFP ruling is the real deal and hope the system of Rodgers is as good as is said. Because we will never have the finances to bring in the top players - which is what we are in desperate need of.Forwards.......
