But surely it's just 'what you have to say'. It is of itself neither indicative of any problem in Gerrards (or any other players) attitude nor the new direction of the club. We had a **** result, people are saying the sort of thing that players say after a loss. The problem is losing one game, nothing more or nothing less at this stage."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Rafa also brought in some fancy foreign players from the likes of Real Madrid & Barca, as well as a highly rated young midfielder.
He lost a star striker but supposedly had a future star arriving in addition to Baros.
I think when Rafa arrived the league was much weaker and tbh at least initially he had more money to play with than Brendan. He still had to juggle but less so.
Rafa also took over a side that finished top 4, so he had a more solid footing.
Brendan takes over a side that has finished 7th, 6th & 8th in the last three seasons. He has been given virtually no cash since Kenny spent it all and yet us fans expect him to finish top 4, or he's failed.
He's done well to bring in three players that in future I believe will be good players for us. But they cost about £28m and on a combined wage of 110k a week.
Bare in mind Augero is on at least 250k a week, Yaya Toure is on 250k a week - and I think that might be AFTER tax! How can we seriously expect Rodgers to turn us from also rans to Champions of England? It's just not realistic.
Over the coming years we have to pray the FFP ruling is the real deal and hope the system of Rodgers is as good as is said. Because we will never have the finances to bring in the top players - which is what we are in desperate need of.
perfectly put...

I think you will change your mind pretty soon.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostFans always overrate new signings. Always.
Then they watch them play and reality sets in.
I'm not saying Joe Allen is a bad player. He's a good player, but nowhere near worth his price and nowhere near the top level. We'll be mourning spending so much money on him when we could have upgraded other position more dramatically.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I think it's more the fact he seems to be saying it at the start of every season, or seems that way to me anyway.
No problem with him saying it, just seemed like ground hog day when i heard it.

It's not indicative I agree, why they should just refrain of saying such things in the future as it's repetitive and sounds like sour grapes.Originally posted by dww View PostBut surely it's just 'what you have to say'. I think players are in a no win situation. Either they admit they are **** and get a Hodgson style bashing or say they can do better and then get this sort of complaints. The problem lies much more in the media and our interpretation as fans thereof than with the players IMO. Best to just ignore the contractual obligation platitudes and only take interest when something more worthy of interpretation is said.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostIt's not indicative I agree, why they should just refrain of saying such things in the future as it's repetitive and sounds like sour grapes."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

maybe they are more concerned to not being seen as the one who hoofed it out and ruined the passing/possession stats, when there are times when a safe pass just isnt on and you need to clear the danger and hoof it.Originally posted by ntto View Postdid anybody see Hansen on Match of the Day
Summed it up for me having watched the game. Said when he played he was always taught to play the ball out from the back. But he said the first 10 minutes or so it was priority to get rid of the ball if put under pressure rather than take the risk being dispossessed in that area of the pitch
they then played some video of Skrtel, Carragher and Agger getting robbed with the ball - all three had their head down concentrating on making a pass rather than either getting rid of the ball or looking for a pass
this could possibly create indecision in the mind of a defender and in a split second the ball is lost and we are a goal down.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Its far too early to judge Rogers time here, but I think it was also far too early to judge whether Rogers was a good enough manager to consider for LFC, as it was with Martinez.
This is one of he biggest jobs in world football. I know we're nowhere near where we once were, but we're still a massive club, and if one good season in the premiership is all it takes to sit at the top of this club then it just goes to show that we're being run by people who seem to be far too happy to take risks.
My fear is that Rogers talks the talk (as he has shown, and is why he got the job) but will he walk the walk? His managerial career is very hit and miss, and very short.
Again, I stress, I'm not concerned about the result on the weekend, my concern is how a man with his experience ever found he his way here after such a short managerial time. How will he deal with things when he goes through a bad patch? How will he cope with the pressure of expectation? Nobody knows because he hasn't been in the game long enough or ever sat at a club like this.
I'm so concerned about how the club is being run by FSG at the moment and the direction we're going in.
