Send out working girls to all the top players in the world and collect their sperm.

We can then set up a breeding program to combine the best of Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Bale etc in 11 super players.

    Next step, world domination.

Get Ridsdale in. He'll shake up FSG, give them real experience of running a top, top club with Champions League ambition. He got Leeds to the Champions League semis you know!

Yep, and he could install a state of the art fish tank in the boardroom too at great expense. That is another reason why we're not succesful. We don't have top, top fish tanks in the boardroom. We just have half-perished funfair goldfish in bags.
          Oh I don't know.

I had a similair concept for the Scottish national team. Send out beautiful scottish women who have been chosen at birth for their athletic capabilities, keep them away from eating cholesterol, then send them out to breed with the best footballers on the planet. Hypnotise Pele and Ronaldinho into full sex, get pregnant and then break up with them and move back to Scotland.

Keep the young super football babies away from real scottish people and games consoles - hey presto, 20 years later you have world beaters.

I've actually written this as a work of fiction. Its an oral history ripe for big screen adaptation.

I heard a rumour that the reason the Ridsdale fish were so successful was because of a massive investment in brain coral. Its all very good looking at the flashy superstars like the Angel and Dragon fish, but you have to spend big on the foundations before you get the big players in.

We know nothing of this committee apart from the fact we have one, we don't know if it has to be a majority decision, how much say Rodgers within the committee or even who the member are. The only think we know for certain is they don't fund the deal.
I agree about doubt and don't object to anyone raising a possibility. Still something that's more probable is, by definition, more likely to be correct.

I'd also add the assumption that organisations act rationally (in their own frame of reference, not necessarily outside it) until proven otherwise. I think there's lots of evidence that indicates that's true for FSG.

And that assumption isn't just supported by what Rodgers said about why we didn't buy Willian, it also explains it.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Hence their reported interest in Steve Guppy.

Chelsea can do this and Mourinho is probably testing the water upon his return by going in for Willian as much as anything else. Tottenham were in for Willian a long time ago and have to show ambition given the imminent sale of their best player.

LFC did the same with Andy Carroll - that worked out well.
                      Great album.

Sorry - didn't mean to derail the thread.

The whole problem with a lot of the fanbase just now is the instant fix culture that has been displayed by Chelsea and other clubs with artificially rich benefactors.

Its not just in football though, all manner of morons across the world think that they just have to win the lottery / X Factor and that will make everything alright. Kids at school want to be famous rather than having any vocational inspiration. Its meaningless aspiration and the footballing equivalent of this is wishing for the club to achieve that 4th place finish - its vacuous and worthless if its done by splurging unseemly amounts of cash.

Whats wrong with patience and building something with foundation? I think the club is on a good path. Good, effective signings have been made and it hasn't been done in the style of a nouveau riche luddite who defaces his big country house with golden gates and statues in the garden.

The super rich benfactor era will end, LFC are still competitive in spite of everything that has happened - it'll be ok

I kind of agree, whilst irritated at the lack of marquee signing I also doubt it would be enough to break into the top four this season. There is a very real probability that we'll finish 6th. with or without a marquee signing.

So I get it that the owner would rather keep their transfer funds and establish a solid base with which to launch a serious assault at a later time. We also spent 20 million in january which may have come out of this summers budget, at least partly.

We have loads of young, promising players who wil only get better over time so we don't need to panic yet.

Having said that, I would like us to take a look at Ljajic though, who should be rather cheap.
