After West Ham, Man United and Bordouex we had four winnable games, all at home, we've drawn them two of them already, after Villa and Sion at home we've got Everton and Spurs away.

We could be looking at a relegation place mid-October.

His lack of adaptability is his downfall. But its really not fair to take all the credit from him for that season.
That season was down to Suarez, Gerrard and Studge just doing what they wanted out there. Rodgers had nothing to do with it. There was no system. It was Suarez busting his nut chasing everything that moved, Studge not being injured and feeding of Suarez scraps and Gerrard sitting in that DM role and pinging his hollywood balls through to Studge/Suarez/Sterling and slotting all the penalties that Suarez continually won.

            Thats it.

I even find myself wondering whether a better manager would have got us over the line that season now, with two strikers in such form, and one of them being Suarez.

I have said previously that in my opinion to get back to the top we need someone high profile who is well know in football beyond the PL and is a proven winner, who will be able to attract good players from across europe.

With all due respect to Rodgers who outside England would have heard of him before we appointed him? His profile is solely based on our profile as a club, if we as a club aren't doing well, his profile isn't going to convince top players to join us. If we could bring someone in like Ancelotti he has a reputation of his own as a proven winner, even when we aren't doing well as a club in his early period in charge he can say to people 'this is what I want to do' and he speaks with authority because he has 3 CL winners medal and various other achievements at the top of the game to back it up. Rodgers may have the same plan but if he has no success to back it up it becomes much harder to buy into.

I think that this is something that is underestimated in the game, but it is something that I think we need to consider with our next managerial appointment.
Yes, I agree with all of that. I just hope someone is telling our owners the same. If the rumours are true and Parry has some kind of role on behalf of the club at the moment then for all his faults you'd hope that he'd be telling them this.

That's really one valid point, the summer before we bought poor but still managed the assault on the title. A manager who could have have shored up the defence would have won us the title IMO, Gerrard was good but he was even then allowing runs at our back four.

Whilst you might not like Rodgers he was the manager when we finished 2nd and as such deserves some of the credit for that finish.

Saying Rodgers had nothing to do with it is quite obviously wrong, he set up the side, picked the players and as is with football you take the plaudits when you win but you must also take the criticism when you don't.

That's the past though and at the moment and for some time he deserves the criticism, we've not been good enough, I've always felt after the decision to keep him on in the Summer he'd have to perform from the get go this season and he's not done it so he's under pressure and it's not something that's going to suddenly diminish with a win here or there.

                        1. I hate three at the back, but if that's what we are playing for the foreseeable we shouldn't change regardless of the opposition.

                        2. We didn't play it that defensively as Can repeatedly went into midfield.

                        3. We dominated the game and got into plenty of good positions. Last night was as much down to the players on the pitch as the manager. Even I can't believe Rodgers was asking CB's to shoot from 40 yards out.

However. Whilst I'm not sure Rodgers could've done much more, it's got to that stage where the players are infected with a fear of failure & a lack of trust in their team mates. This has come about due to some shockingly bad buys and previous terrible management.

I hoped that with the shake up in the back room and new signings we'd start the season afresh, but that has not been the case. All the problems can only now be pointed at Rodgers & the ones above him.
                        Forwards.......

That would be nice man. Since we luckily beat Bournemouth at home, we haven't won a game. It's ****. Absolute ****
