Like Fierce, I just don't understand at all criticism of owners for having a business strategy
I don't get how it isn't fit for purpose either, certainly there have been issues with the execution but it seems quite clear to me that our performances on the pitch right now are not living up to the talent assembled in the squad and that comes down to the manager's tactics and coaching, not the ownership.
The committee system was introduced after the failures of Comolli, so it isn't as if we've just doggedly stuck to one idea under FSG. Maybe it will get changed again in the coming months, or maybe with a new manager it will start to work better. Ultimately under FSG our finances have improved significantly and our manager has been able to spend large sums on new players each summer. We can always want more but we could have got so much less. If Ancelotti or Klopp come in can we reasonably believe they will be backed in the market too? I think so. Hell maybe one of them will even be able to work with a committee so our signings under them actually fit with their plan for how we should play!
I'm not criticising them for having one, I'm saying it's been too rigid and has not helped the manager do his job. Maybe that's because the manager is a British manager and therefore feels he should be in charge of everything like the old days. If they wanted to buy the players for the manager and get him to manage them they should have employed a European who'd be used to that.
I'll say it again, they own us, we've not competed where we expect to compete during that time. I can't see how anybody can say that's not their fault, even just a little bit.
We can change the manager, hopefully to one who's used to having players bought for him and hopefully it works. Or the lads on the committee will continue to prove they don't know what they are doing.
And yes they provided plenty of money but it's not got us anywhere so why haven't they changed more than two lads who used to put the cones out.
Money have been spent within our means though. It's not as if we broke record transfer fees compared to other clubs. Selling Suarez and missing out on Sanchez and then buying Balotelli, selling Sterling for £40m and buying Firmino who was never a direct replacement etc ... I don't buy the fact that it's all Rodgers's fault.
Think the club is in a bit of a state generally and I agree with G on that.
We've gone from 5th to 55th under their watch yet you can't see what they've done wrong. Right so.
Come again? We weren't 5th when they took over, we were in a mess under Hodgson with Poulson, Konchesky and Jovanovic in the team and had had serious underinvestment for several seasons. And we definitely aren't 55th now? Breaking the top 4 monopoly was always going to be a big ask, nobody else has even come close, and while mistakes have surely been made we have a team now full of £10m-£30m signings who the manager is obviously failing to get the best out of. He has the resources to be firmly challenging for a CL place, and if we aren't it is his fault imo, not the owners.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

We've invested £300m in new players in 3 years, most managers would kill for that. Nobody can tell me we are maximising performance or results from what we have available, whatever the structure behind the scenes, and that has to come to the manager's door.

We are 55th and we were indeed in the top 10 when Hodgson was manager, but all down to Rafa's work.
Oh but that's ridiculous, that ranking was mostly based on 2005 & 2007 before the effect of H&G bit, totally unfair to lay that drop at FSG's door.

We've spent that much and recouped a lot though, which is par for the course. Problem has been in our muddled recruitment policy. Something's not right and all is not down to Rodgers. They will have to break the model when the next manager comes in, or they won't get a top tier one, but rather someone who will be happy to make concessions. Maybe Rodgers tried to make too many of them.

At the moment with the resources that have been made available and the players brought in we are quite simply underachieving and as when things are going well the manager rightly gets the praise when it's not equally the manager will get criticised.
Essentially for our woes on the pitch the buck stops with Brendan
Though I have issues with FSG, their constantly **** appointments and the fact mediocrity appears to be running right through the club, and our net spend has been a bit wank this summer, I agree the buck stops with Brendan. We've not spunked so much money in our history....granted much of it has come from two huge fees received, but we've spent it all on ****. And if they're not ****, then it's Brendan's fault regardless for not getting the best out of them / making them look ****.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

5th ranked team in Europe. Now 55th. Feeling a bit beleaguered myself so I'll sign off by saying I hope a change in manager happens asap, we get a top one in ( a proven one , not another experiment), it cures all our ills and proves the lads on the committee actually do know their arse from their elbow and FSG are geniuses.

He's said himself that he's to blame, but I'll dispute that a bit. I think the whole system is a bit of a mess.
I think it's defence mechanism from Rodgers from now on though.
