        Obviously Rodgers doesn't feel we need that protection. Gerrard was as instrumental as anybody in our push for the title last season, so I don't see how he can be criticized for playing a role that the manager asked of him and thought he played excellently.

        We seem to have this argument every year about Gerrard now. For whatever reason he seems to start the season slowly and lot of people say he's finished and a hindrance, but every time he proves why he is a world class player.


        He has his flaws as a DM and I had my concerns about him playing there last year, but after the first few games he more than proved me wrong. I'll not make teh same mistake this year and blame all our defensive frailties on him.
        If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

            Of course not, that's would be silly given how our defender performed sometimes, I may be making a tad too much out of this but I'm concerned about it. I do think we'll not see him start every game though.

              This current thing appears to be based off the back of a friendly game though.

              He is obviously going to be a diminished force, but he was great last season when we were on our run. First half of the season I was wanting him out, but he really turned his form around from december onwards.

                When it goes wrong, it goes horribly wrong, but even CAD has to admit that on the whole we looked a much better side when Gerrard dropped into that position (it's not as if we were much better defensively when he wasn't playing there, bar the first 3 games when that other liability Toure was playing). But now we have Can and maybe a fit Lucas or replacemnet Rodgers might have more options to change things if they aren't working out and maybe against better teams play Henderson and Can ahead of Gerrard leaving him less exposed.

                Having finished the season so briliantly, at the very last we have to give the team and Gerrard a few months before criticising too much.

                      Think he said the last 3 months have been the worst of his life, so not unexpected tbh.

                      He had a very good season with LFC though. imo.

                            I honestly don't understand why people who knowingly state views which go against the grain, who recognise that they might get some jip for doing so, get so uppity when it happens.

                            Your opinion is fair enough. But so is the criticism of it.

                              I don't have time for much more. As you can see on my stats I used to post a lot but had 8597 kids in 3 years.

                              I post about this topic because I think it's the most interesting topic and important issue in regards to the team. The HM position is, as we all know, crucial to any team.

                              It would obviously be different if I posted a lot of on other topics because I might actually make a few friends again but I don't have time.

                              I will stop posting anything - enjoy the site
