It's slowly dawning on me how big Gerrard is. He's the heart and soul, the fan on the pitch. I look at the team and see no one else who bridges that gap, who'd speak his mind and fight for us fans on the pitch.

It may subside, but it feels like the last element of the Liverpool I've known will be leaving, and there's nothing else to connect us. Even under the dark days of Hodgson, we had Gerrard, Carragher, but then those who bought into us like Kuyt, Reina, Agger, players who had been with us during the highs and the lows.

Now I look at the club, and it's a shell. I don't know how to describe that feeling.

              Thanks for everything Steven Gerrard.

I welled up before the match and after. FFS.

Nice to hear Stevie in his MOTD interview acknowledge the Rafa team of about 2007-2009 was the best team he played in. That spine - Reina, Carragher, Skrtel or Agger, Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard, Torres - we'd kill for a spine anywhere near as strong as that now.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He is right though, that was one hell of a spine and there was top quality in almost every position. Could take us a few more years to get anywhere near that again.

I actually cried. What a player. There will never be another like him.

I welled up before the game when he came out. At the end I was so angry at Rodgers and the rest of team on that performance that I did not tear up which I was expecting to in the morning.

If you look at that list it is not just the footballing quality we are missing. We are missing great personalities, leaders on all areas of the pitch.

I thought football couldn't touch me anymore but my kids (16 and 7) caught me with big, huge, tears in my eyes.

It's ok, I've manned up a bit now.
