Hmmmm, I just don't see the benefit of pretending or keeping it shy if the club and Stevie know more than we do (well obviously they do, but you know what I mean). If they think he can make a full recovery then I'll happily go along with that until it's proven otherwise.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I didnt mean he wouldnt be the same player - i mean i think his career is done.

I dont mean the club know he's finished and are keeping it quiet - i dont think they've reached that point yet. But i just dont personally think there's any real future there. I obviously hope i'm wrong.

It's going to be a sad day when he does retire.

We've signed so many players over the last 15 years and probably only one or two (in Torres & perhaps Alonso), have come close to Gerrard's level. Incredible player.

He still has an Indian Summer in him... do not even want to contemplate Stevie G being finished...

Something's very clearly not right with SG and i think he's done. Just my opinion.
think I mentioned earlier on in the thread, my mate was at Evertons training ground and he was talking to one of the Physio's there who said the same thing.

The first thing he should do is retire from England duty, it's not as if they're going to win anything is it. It'll help elongate his career like Carra and Scholes.

                  I know mate, it's a grim thought.

Can see where Craig is coming from and I think I might've posted something similar a while back.

Gerrard has carried the team for goodness knows how long, he's picking up long-term injuries (and has been for the last few years), and this most recent one is very bizarre. I'm by no means an expert when it comes to footballing fitness issues, but he had problems when he first broke into the team and I think wear and tear has caught up with him.

Hope I'm wrong and we get another three years out of him, but I just can't see it.

His last injuries have been infections in two different parts of the body (groin & ankle)

The "infections" side of things needs looking at BUT I think its nonsense to suggest he has a specific injury that will cause him to have constant problems

I'd like to hear the reasoning behind this

Hes had two infections in two different parts of the body

The only common theme is "infection"

And I thought the idea behind Rafa playing him in the attacking mid / second striker role was to prolong his career. He is only 31 and will be back I am sure.

Playing so many times with pain injections down the years was always going to catch up with him. It's just not good long term to be doing that, far too much wear and tear that shouldn't have been ignored.

I don't think he'll ever get back to the level when he was at his best. Hopefully he still has a few years in him of decent football tho, Stevie G playing decently is still better then most out there & a huge asset.

It speaks volumes about how well Kenny has done when Stevie has hardly featured under him.

the fact, he scored in his first game in few months says it all. and it was against the ****ing Scum.

                            YNWA, Steven Gerrard!

That's true actually. A cold hard fact.
