Why should he go elsewhere and why would Rafa and Newcastle be a good fit?
Some utter bollocks being spouted here. He's given everything for this club and if the club can help him set off on a long and hopefully successful managerial, be it here or anywhere else, then it would be the right thing to do. I don't get some of the hate he gets on here.

It's not like he'd be put in sole charge of coaching the U18s/U23s/whoever - he'd be working with (and learning from) the established coaches that are already there. And perhaps some of those youngsters would get a real buzz from working with him?
I may be wrong, but I don't recall the likes of Fowler and Rush having to learn their coaching trade elsewhere before they were given an opportunity on our coaching staff?

Hate
None of this is up to us. It would only be the right thing to do if the manager reckons it would be beneficial to the team, and it's not obvious from the outside whether that would be the case or what the manager would think about it. The idea of bring him in to play any part on the field is bloody ridiculous and I would be worried if Klopp didn't think the same, but for a coaching position it's all about group dynamics, and our manager is clearly the expert on that.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

He spoke about how, when a player of Stevie's calibre commits so many years to the club and exhibits the associated loyalty, the club's door stays open. The bond never goes away. I liked that. Maybe it's a bit rose-tinted, but footballers seem like a bunch of sentimental saps anyway so I'm sure it's a message that resonates.

Because he needs to learn his trade & if he wants to play on , the championship is about his level now I'd say. Plus Rafa could teach him a thing or two about management. 'Hate'Originally posted by cream View PostWhy should he go elsewhere and why would Rafa and Newcastle be a good fit?

With all due respect to Stevie, who is IMO the greatest LFC player of all time, no player is bigger than the club. Why bring him back at this stage when everything is going so well? I get the sentiment alright but why rock the boat? He didn't have the legs to cope in the MLS & his presence may put some players off. I think it's optimistic talking about a title challenge in November aswell, keep quiet and see how we go.
The karma is all good at the moment, I don't see why we would want to change that, even for a LFC legend like Stevie. I don't think Klopp is the kind of guy that bows to pressure, so if this does happen ... he will want Stevie there in whatever capacity for good reason.

Exactly. H's not going to be a Gary Mac part 2.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHe couldn't get a game for LA Galaxy ffs. Bring him back as an academy coach or something but he'd get nowhere near the team now. He's 36, and his game has nigh-on collapsed. Nothing wrong with that, it happens, but there is not one logical argument in favour of signing him as a player.
