Interestingly his Agent has 40 players under management, 27 of them are out of contract including Emre next year who lets not forget came to us under a cloud of transfer release clause shenanigans. Bayerns nose was somewhat out of joint when we activated his release clause.
He is off, he shows glimpses of a real player from time to time and then reminds us all just how frustrating he can be when he half asses it away against Palace or West Ham. You can get at him and god forbid he loses possesion there is a 50/50 chance he will chase after the ball and get either a yellow or red card in the process.Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. At least he gives his all when he does play.
I don't think he will suit our midfield with Keita + 1 more coming in next season so not that bothered by him leaving.
I can see the midfield next season being -
Keita Henderson Lallana
With the replacements being -
Wijnaldum (new midfielder) Oxlade
Penetrating, Probing and Pressing all in one midfield. Was muß, das muß.

Yeah, and not sure we would do ourselves any favours by making our squad smaller than necessary, and by refusing to play one of our better midfielders for the duration. If he contributes at a high enough level it would be stupid not to utilize him while we have him.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostIt's been obvious for ages he's off. Not sure why we'd **** all over him now. We should have given him an ultimatum sooner if we were going to get all upset about it.

Yeah, it's hardly news. I'd have prefered to keep him as he as a higher ceiling than the likes of Wijnaldum but then Keita is an upgrade on both. We've done well from Can in terms of low fee and small wages for 4 years. All the best to him.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostIt's been obvious for ages he's off. Personally, I think it's another sign of incompetence by the club to allow Can to enter the last year of his contract without it being renewed. We can all sit here and rip Arsenal (we've done it in the past, myself included) for doing the same thing with a number of high calibre players, but lets clean our home first before taking shots at other clubs. There should have been a cut off point in reaching an agreement and if at that point talks were at an impasse, Can should have been sold whether we liked it or not.

Yep.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThat's all very well, but he has to agree to being sold.
I don't think we're in the business of slavery.
Too much simplification going on.
Players will occasionally leave for free. It happens.
Is it better to get the full 5 years out of him for a relatively low outlay, or is better to have him for less time, and some money in the bank (note our less than stellar record of replacing good players).Oh I don't know.
