Apart from the piece regarding dragging out contract negotiations for a release clause he was never going to get and bagging a signing on fee. Has he done anything wrong, to the letter of the contract, no. As you say he's honoured his contract but he has dragged out a renewal long enough for the club to get nothing from improving his game and making him a bigger name in the game. To be honest I prefer the Coutinho situation where he signs a new deal, forces his way out but the club lands a big fat cheque for the development the player has made with his time at LFC. Guess we'll just have to agree to differ.

Yep 100% disagree.Originally posted by Snigger View PostApart from the piece regarding dragging out contract negotiations for a release clause he was never going to get and bagging a signing on fee. Think about how he much cost us? Presumably you weren't in favour of that deal too?
And why should the club take all the credit for any improvements in the player? He improved himself, no?
But yeah, it's good to stay bitter, right?
Oh I don't know.

I'm not bitter - just don't like the way it's been done - and as for improved himself, maybe partly yes, but there's a reason clubs have coaches and training and he's a far bigger name now than 4 years ago. Who cares what he originally cost us, should we only sell players for what we originally paid? Don't understand that argument at all.Originally posted by dom9 View PostYep 100% disagree.

He got injured with Germany and is out of their World Cup squad because of it
I find it strange how quickly some people forget that he's mostly been very good for us, now that he's out the door. I'd say he's the best out of our remaining midfielders, not counting the future ones.
Anyway it doesn't really matter, he's leaving, good luck to him.

He's been boss at times and anonymous at other times, and that's the bottom line he's inconsistent, he had the potential to be a very good player but he's not achieved that yet. Maybe he will, maybe he won't he's still young enough to, but the player that he is at the moment isn't anything special, I would have liked to have seen him stay a while longer to see how he develops but that isn't going to happen.Originally posted by Fuzzy View PostHe got injured with Germany and is out of their World Cup squad because of it

Can was an above average midfielder who improved quite a deal this season, didn't shirk or hide either. So you know, fair play.
On the other hand, he has always struck me as an arrogant enough Billy Big Balls type, with posturing and notions of himself far outstripping his ability level. He frequently frustrated in a Liverpool shirt. Also, his playing silly buggers over a contract for so long was a bit annoying but overall he's not half the miss he'd love to think he's going to be. So off you go lad and enjoy it while we likely outperform the team you join.

Pay me a **** load of money or I am off or guarantee me more playing time which to be fair he got regardless or I am off.Originally posted by dom9 View PostRansom?
Look he has form, his agent has form, he can go, I only want players at the club who love it as much as we, the fans do. He is one of those players who has it all on the surface but needs to make the jump to putting it all together every single game in order to be the player he already thinks he is.
If a player cannot commit to the club 2.5 years out of his contract end we should ship or be prepared to lose 100,s of Millions in fees. He has never made the right sounds about staying here and to be honest I think he is more suited to Juve and the Italian LG anyways so its probally the right move for him.
I have no bad feelings towards the lad, but I dont like that surprise surprise a player who in some ways ****ed over his two previous clubs in order to come to us is ****ing us over too. All the best EmreAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015
