Look he has form, his agent has form, he can go, I only want players at the club who love it as much as we, the fans do. He is one of those players who has it all on the surface but needs to make the jump to putting it all together every single game in order to be the player he already thinks he is.

If a player cannot commit to the club 2.5 years out of his contract end we should ship or be prepared to lose 100,s of Millions in fees. He has never made the right sounds about staying here and to be honest I think he is more suited to Juve and the Italian LG anyways so its probally the right move for him.

I have no bad feelings towards the lad, but I dont like that surprise surprise a player who in some ways ****ed over his two previous clubs in order to come to us is ****ing us over too. All the best Emre
That's what negotiations are though. There is nothing wrong with one party stating their expectations and the other not agreeing with it, it's actually more honest than anything else.

He hasn't made the 'right sounds' because he was honest and he was honest in a respectful way whilst continuing to focus on the games for the team.

If you only want players who love the club as much as the fans, you're in the wrong century I'm afraid. They are mostly driven by desire to win things or money or both.

I find it strange how quickly some people forget that he's mostly been very good for us, now that he's out the door. I'd say he's the best out of our remaining midfielders, not counting the future ones.

Anyway it doesn't really matter, he's leaving, good luck to him.
Yeah, he's played his important part in us getting through the CL group and not least retaining top four, so I can't fault his contribution or attitude. If we can't agree to a contract for various reasons so be it, good luck to him.

Never quite cracked on for me. Looked a more impressive player filling in at the back

Good luck Emre, hope you find what you’re looking for.

Or maybe he just decided he wanted to play elsewhere?

By all accounts he was offered a juicy contract at LFC commensurate with his increased status.

          It's hardly a ransom.

And why shouldn't a player see out a contract?

You work in recruitment. This is the last thing I'd expect you to be arguing.
          Oh I don't know.

I like him and he showed glimpses of the player that he'll probably never be. His strength and quality on the ball at times, particularly early in his LFC made him look like a lesser Vieira at times. I don't think those years under Rodgers were beneficial to his development. Been thrown from pillar to post. He's been good under Klopp and has offered us a useful, rounded skillset in midfield. He should have been better, but he's been consistently good for us over the duration of his contract. He's still relatively young and could end up being a really good player over time.

As for not receiving the fee, it's not something which irks me at all. He didn't cost the club crazy money for the service provided and he has fulfilled the agreement of his contract whilst upholding the standard of the club on and off the pitch. I think his transfer fee was around 10m. So if you break it down, it's roughly 2.5m/season which represents good value, particularly reflecting in the current economic climate. Loan fees now are often quoted as being 5-7m a season on top of wages. So I really have no qualms with Emre if he believes he can excel elsewhere, be a better player or earn more money elsewhere. It's his right. If he joins another English team it would be disappointing, but realistically I don't mind as long as it isn't Man Utd or Everton.

Or a desire to live in and experience different cultures, or a desire to have a change of scenery. When I was in my 20s I used to change my job every 18-24 months. I know lots people in their 40s with multiple simultaneous jobs (for variety, not just for money).

I don't know why this notion of loyalty is something that footballers should be subjected to when we don't practice it ourselves.

I couldn't give a **** about my employer. There are days when I wish them actually bankruptcy. Why should I be loyal to them?
              Oh I don't know.

this is the reason we wouldnt stump up a new contract with the fat wages he craves.
unfortunately he emre can has seen us chuck a load of money and contracts at other players who have not been consistent enough to warrant their pay grade or new contracts.

other players who only show 'glimpses' but fail to offer consistency should be replaced. when they also have a poor injury record then its poor management to not replace them as they are often unavailable so do nothing to add to the squad, and when they do come in they are too flakey to be consistent.

yes adam, im looking at you...

It's not quite the same thing though - yes you sign a contract and agree a salary but fairly sure they didn't pay your previous employer millions of pounds to take you off their hands.

What would you do as a professional footballer?

Basically. Decent at everything, excellent at nothing. Useful player to have in a squad, but not a mega salary star player. A bit more development required before he's in a bracket where it's sad to see him leave.

You must apply for some **** jobs or you are just a bad egg. That is a terrible attitude to have.

Well, I've been in my present employment for 13 years and in that time I've worked for 7 different companies and about to be TUPEd to the eighth. All without changing my job at any of those times.

Some of those companies are among the largest technology companies on the planet, and also among the worst possible employers (pay cuts anyone? I kid you not - US colleagues had to take compulsory pay cuts of 10% then another 20%).

These companies live from quarter to quarter and if they don't earn enough billions, they cut swathes of employees out of the business regardless of consequences. They literally could not give less of a **** about any single employee, including the CEOs, who they seem to get through more of than football managers. They don't invest in staff, offices nor even basic kit like laptops (one of the employers was along the largest manufacturers of PCs on Earth).

So why do I still work there? Well, I've got a comfortable, stress free life. I walk to work. I've got a nice window seat. And I don't get any hassle. I could earn more elsewhere but I'm not motivated by that. The work life balance is more important to me.

And I've been there 13 years so the redundancy money will be very nice if they ever boot me out.

If that means I've got a bad attitude, then I'm more than happy for these employers to reap what they have sowed. Cunts.
                              Oh I don't know.
