We did on the odd occasion but not nearly enoughOriginally posted by Fredo View PostHad we scored last night (and we should have scored) we wouldn't have needed such an inquest.
I thought we passed it at speed at times but lacked the final pass to open up Southampton.
Look at our performances early on in the season, there was even a few occasions when we were pushing for a winner and teams were sat back
We had tons of tons of possession (like now) but the crispness and zip in our passing was night and day compared to now. We moved teams around to create the opportunities and space
I know you will counter that its difficult to break teams down who sit deep and it is you are right
But its much more difficult when you are passing the ball slowly rather than quicklyBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I remember thinking first half of the season, when things were going well, it was a positive that we weren't relying on a single player. The downturn of that is that we seem to be living in a worst case scenario now whereby all our players have lost form at the same time.Originally posted by Lecter View PostWe dont have anyone who can drag a performance round on their own (like Gerrard use to)
I personally we need more than just Mane's pace, you need 2 or 3 player capable of such bursts of speed
The only explanation to that is that its a general mood/confidence issue around the team at the moment.
I 100% agree with you that in this current state that we need a holding midfielder to break up the counters but, earlier in the season, we weren't giving up the ball so cheaply.

Ideally you want both
We dont have either at the moment imo
it's something I've been banging on about for ages - pace pace pace! it's everything in the modern game - you need three/four pacey players in your team for two reasons....cutting out counter attacks/getting over to cover for players and then to counter attack/cause problems at the other end.
we seriously lack pace.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Well early in the season you were pressing high and winning possessionOriginally posted by Maxiedge View PostI remember thinking first half of the season, when things were going well, it was a positive that we weren't relying on a single player. Now we are not pressing and or teams are negating that press we are exposedBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

LFC will offer a fresh deal that will be incentive loaded. But if Can continues to stall, they accept to cash in this summer. (Maddock)
Juventus are on alert over Emre Can's contract stand-off. As are Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and Leipzig.
But LFC believe Emre Can's salary should reflect his position as a promising player, not the finished article.
Emre Can’s agent wants to more than double the current salary of around £35,000 a week.
Emre Can has been sitting on the offer a new deal since the turn of the year but is no closer to agreeing the terms

He was excellent at the end of last season and superb vs Arsenal and us still really YOUNG. If £70k is deemed too much then no wonder we can't sign players.Originally posted by Bender View Posthttps://twitter.com/ViktorFagerLFC/s...43972400857088

Personally I think he is very good and the potential to be excellent, I also think he has the tool set to become a good CB but what do I know.....I said Mane would be a waste of money!

He is far to slow on the ball for our team, but he has potential for more and could still learn that part of the game. Havn't quite lived up to the expectations, but I think he is a valuable squad member and defo could do with a bigger contract than that compared to what PL players are paid these days.
Hopefully we will pay what a squad rotation midfielder get's now a days.

It says more than doubled, I haven't read the article but that could mean £71k or £100k. He's not done enough to merit near the upper end of that.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostHe was excellent at the end of last season and superb vs Arsenal and us still really YOUNG. Its those little 2-5 yard movements off the ball that all the top players have in that position, they don't pass and stand still, constantly giving options to the man on the ball and can see their next pass well in advance. Xabi is just a dream of a player, even now.Originally posted by ntto View Postwatched xabi Alonso last night and he was showing for everything - kept it very simple and was brilliant.
what struck me was the passing into space for people to run onto at pace - something we don't do and slows our play downVive la France
