On what planet is stating absolute facts - not personal opinions - evidence of someone being a "blinkered xenophobic"? I'm genuinely curious about the mental gymnastics it would take to reach such a bizarre conclusion.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostWhat a blinkered xenophobic **** you are
And why the personal abuse? I'm genuinely curious about that too. Yours is a very odd response indeed. It's quite sad really

But isn't that the point? I don't have to "do the math" (I'm very fond of you Americans by the way - been to all fifty states) because we don't use kph as a measure of speed, nor kilometres as a measure of distance in the UK, so the matter never arises.Originally posted by The_weatherman View Post
Kind of feel sorry for Redspin now. But 1 km is about 0.62 mile so for the future you can do the math yourself
Apparently stating this obvious, incontestable truth makes one a "blinkered xenophobic ****" in a nearby parallel universe. Who'd have thought it?

Sorry if you took offence at the cuss word. You've got a long history on here of turning your nose up at things you consider (sometimes wrongly) to be foreign or un-English. Personally I find that a bit distasteful, hence the response.Originally posted by Redspin View PostOn what planet is stating absolute facts - not personal opinions - evidence of someone being a "blinkered xenophobic"? You can't really think you were stating absolute facts, measuring speed and distance using the metric system is hardly obscure here let alone 'meaningless'. It doesn't need to be translated into English, it just needs you to not be so narrow-minded.Like blood on iron

Please stop saying 'We' I use them as a measurement of distance, and there is a sizable chunk of people in the running thread who use the same.Originally posted by Redspin View PostBut isn't that the point? Anyone can use any unit they like for I care and saying something like this:
Comes across as a bit 'Brits abroad' and something that isnt really on. If its not English, its wrong?Originally posted by Redspin View PostWhat's that in English? We don't use kilometres to measure distance in the UK, nor kph to measure speed, so it's all a bit meaningless*Except Michael, who died.
