Midfield is where we have most depth. We lost Coutinho, Lallana, Can and Oxlade Chamberlain for long periods and still managed to finish fourth and get to the CL final. It's the forward areas we need strengthening and also to replace the leaving Can and replace Phil.

I think he’s very underrated & has been in season best form the past month or so. Definitely a big match performer

Agree with the sentiments here, vastly underrated player who has played a decisive role in some very important games for us recently. Most notably when he came on for Ox v Roma, completely changed our midfield. A shoe in to start in Kiev for us IMO

Exactly, so why get rid of a CM who can perform all of the roles Can can.

Also depends on whether Grujic is a serious option for next season.

I think a versatile AM who can also play on the wings is what we need. Mane can always move central if something happens to Firmino.

While I think that Wiji has gone missing a bit during games, the last month or so he has stepped up a bit. We should not be contemplating selling... especially as the rest of our midfield is both understaffed and suffer from collective brittle bone disease.

Yup, exactly. He's shown he has that mentality you only find out when you are on the hunt for trophies. Both him and Milner have impressed me no end these last few months. No chance Klopp will even consider selling him IMO.

There was no hint that he was ever going to be sold no?

Some people never really seemed to rate him, saying he's too cautious in possession but he plays to instructions and a very important part of our game is to keep possession and control the play, which he is a very crucial part of. He may be too timid at times, but I think he is improving and has imposed himself on games lately.

In the past, I had a theory that he seems that if he plays more defensively he is **** going forward, and vice versa.

There is a great player in there who seems to be a bit ridgid in his thinking... but I think he has found a bit more balance recently. I hope he doesnt go back into his shell next year, as he is very useful on this form... maybe not first 11 if everyone is fit, but a very useful bench player

He's getting very good at the art of winning the ball without tackling.

On a side note, I'd like Milner to move into a coaching staff role of some kind when he ends his playing career. I reckon with some development he'd be a great coach in the future.

Milner, Henderson & Gini are all in great form recently so it's good timing. I honestly think that if the boys are well rested and charged up for the final, Madrid's midfield won't be able to handle that tempo.

The problem will be if we give likes of Modric, Kroos & Isco time on the ball... we do that and we are in serious trouble IMO. I think Madrid are so use to playing the ball around, having 80% possession, dominating games etc that when they come up against someone that really puts it to them.. it's a bit of a shock for them. Juve & Munich showed is this and they play at about half the intensity we do.

Madrid have so much quality in the midfield and attacking 11 that our midfield lads are going to have to be at their best.

Yeah, thats a good observation. If we are on song, and the midfield can disrupt Madrids then we can start to dominate the game. People undervalue the role our midfield three have. Its not all that glamorous in some respects, but they are in control of hunting the ball reclaiming it and starting attacks.

Having Lallana back and potentially Can as a fresh set of legs could be huge. This game would be made for the Ox also.

Regarding Wijnaldum, he has basically reinvented himself to suit tactics at least twice since joining. He has played as the advanced midfielder, and is now just as comfortable playing deeper.

Is Can available? Would be great to get him and Lallana back into the squad to shore up that bench.

yeah midfield are not specialists in anything but complete all rounders. I hesitate to use the word workhorses as they have proved to be much more than that. Relentless in reclaiming possession and starting attacks in the transition is maybe a bit more apt.

Sometimes it's hard to know which LFC side will show up. If it is the one that is straight out of the blocks, that plays at hyper speed.... Madrid will be in for a bit of a shock. I worry that the occasion getting to some players as Madrid are seasoned winners. 2 weeks solid rest for our lads is something they haven't had all season, I would like to think they will be fresh and fired up come kick off.

Gini can be hit and miss but IMO he has been an excellent signing for the squad & really seems to have hit form.

Nerves on the night will be understandable, and could play a huge part.

Hopefully Jurgen is managing this (I am sure he is, he seems on top of most things). Madrid do seem like the sort of team that will just expect to show up and get the trophy.

If we are at our best we take some stopping.
