Sure they are an appealing club due to their trophy haul but heÂ’s got it all wrong if heÂ’s prioritising trophies over being a local one club legend.

HeÂ’s already won a bunch and has an incredible opportunity to win more at Liverpool.

Gerrard never had that chance and obviously he considered leaving but ultimately I think he made the right choice.

Nobody (who isnÂ’t petty) talks about Steven Gerrards lack of a prem medal ruling him out of being potentially the best prem central midfielder of all time and an all time great of the game. Everyone talks about his performances and the moments he turned games himself.

The odds of being as good as Trent and having your local club be one of the biggest clubs with a chance to win stuff is so low, why give that up?

Sort out your own deal based on what you think your own worth is and don't be getting hung up on what others might be offered.

It wouldn’t be surprise me if the source of this was Madrid, they are notorious for all sorts of underhand tactics designed at unsettling players, causing rifts, turning fans against them etc - all for them to get the players they want for as cheap as possible.

Like I said I had seen others reporting similar. The suggestion I saw from them was more that Trent wanted the other two to renew before he would rather than it being anattle to be the highest paid.

No I don't think the club would, but someone close to the player or a friend of a friend type thing could have happened.


As you say, Real or some proxy could be involved but what I do know is if TAA wanted to shut it down he could out it as being utter muck with a simple statement through his agent.

There were no leaks when Edwards ran the show last time and I'd expect the same now.

Madrid on the other hand are adept at playing these games through the media.

How are they any different to what TAA is doing?

He's holding the club (his boyhood club that he loves, yada yada yada...) to ransom for a ridiculous contract or is going to leave for free, when truth is he's worth an absolute ****load of money. Instead, we get nothing or need to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a RB.

He's worse than those two in my eyes if he leaves. We at least got some money for Owen and don't think Macca was anywhere near their level and was tailing off performance wise anyway (and he was one of my favourite players from that era!)

Yep. Though I have doubts that he will put in an entire season for any other club like the ones he gave us when he was on fire.

We got lots of great plays, great moments and what not from him. He even managed that rare thing of being part of a truly iconic moment with that quick corner.

If he goes it will be gutting in the sense it is a local lad with so much talent leaving, but at the same time it is no different to anyone else leaving one job for another because they fancy the new job more. I cannot really hammer him for that.

Fixed that for you.

He is a total Real fan boy, with a fake posh accent. He seems to have a genuine dislike for the club and never misses a chance to stick the boot in and any praise is through gritted teeth.

No doubt TNT will roll him out for the Real game next week at Anfield and he will say something along the lines of “how can Trent resist Madrid, the best club in the world?”
