    Writing him off already?

Bit presumptuous that. I doubt he's even moved house yet.

We should have waited a year, IMO. I think he'll be a good signing and add needed depth but it's wierd that he's deemed worse than Wijnaldum.
Was he ****. That's absolute nonsense. We'd been linked with him for absolutely ages.

You can reinvent history to suit your agenda if you want, but it's clear Klopp has wanted him for a long time. He's even publicly said as much.

It was no surprise when he signed - the only reason it was so late in the window was for Arsenal to save face about losing a player they rated highly enough to offer 180k a week. He hasn't been great so far, but then neither has anyone else.

It was seems like an intentioned plan to get him that late in the window, probably at Arsenal's insistence.

Yep Klopp has been keen on him since he played for Arsenal v Dortmund a few seasons ago.

Not writing him off totally, i just don't see him being anymore than another squad player (Gini-like).

& unless things pick up quickly for him/the team, unfortunately he will become the scapegoat, irrespective of whether that is fair or justified.

OK, maybe panic was the wrong word, but we hadn't enough players in and Lallana made it worse. We were clearly in the running for him but i don't think we were considering him for this summer.

Lack of our transfer dealing or Chelsea's bid brought forward that deal IMO.

I was on holiday at the time so wasn't following the nuances of the final days of the window, thankfully.

I think he will start tomorrow in the CL. He played well when he came on, even if it was 10 mins.

I liked how aggressive and direct he was the other day. If he can keep that up then things should only get better. He has an opportunity now Mane is injured and he needs to make the most of it.

Yeah. Play him on the left and drop Coutinho back to midfield. Seems logical.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain isn't ready for central midfield role at Liverpool, says manager Jurgen Klopp
                            • Liverpool signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal for £35m in January
                            • Key reason behind the midfielder's move was a desire to play in a central role
                            • But Jurgen Klopp says Oxlade-Chamberlain isn't ready for that position for now

Jurgen Klopp has told Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain not to expect to play in his preferred central midfield role for Liverpool any time soon.

Oxlade-Chamberlain swapped Arsenal for Anfield in a £35million move this summer with his desire to play centrally a notable motivating factor.

Klopp has tended to field the 24-year-old out wide in his limited appearances for his new club so far – and the German says that is a trend that is unlikely to change in the immediate future.

Liverpool play Maribor in the Champions League on Tuesday night before a Premier League trip to Tottenham on Sunday with Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to feature – but not in the middle.

'Without training and playing in the middle of the park it doesn't make sense,' Klopp said.

'At this moment he is training only on the wing so it is clear, when he does start [playing in the middle, it] can never be without training as a No 8 first.

'It is not good for him, and it is not good for us, and at the moment when he is training he trains on the wing.

'At the moment it is clear but I know once again it is a long-term thing, it is not fixed for the next five years.'

Oxlade-Chamberlain was a 78th-minute substitute in Saturday's stalemate against Manchester United but managed to light up an otherwise drab draw in his brief cameo.

After his initial struggles that followed his big-money move, Klopp was delighted to see the steady improvement of his summer signing.

'I cannot say how happy I was to see Chambo playing like this,' Klopp added.

'I said he needed a little bit of time and my most positive thing was that finally he has arrived, but it always takes time.

'I really loved the performance when he came on.'
