Carroll certainly had a very good game for us yesterday - probably his best - and while I really admire him for his effort, that slightly brutish "flick" to SG, his assist etc and I'd love to have seen him bury that header in front of the Kop against the scum, part of me was dismayed at what he seems to really bring. He played well in a ****e game. He harried and bustled but **** me when Crouchie was going through his dry spell, you could see how good a footballer he was - I'm not sure how much further Andy can take his game. The nature of his physicality is slow and lumbering. Watching the way he runs, I'd say he's fairly easy to knock over. He doesn't come at people like a tank. Every step seems painful and laboured. He doesn't have a quick turn. I can't see him beating defenders. Good luck to him and all and I'd love to see him come good and score 15-20 a season for us but I definitely think it's only LFC fans who would call his performance yesterday "fantastic" - a neutral would say he was one of the better players in a really poor game of football.
Agger on the other hand was a ****in giant yesterday and Skrtel has been transformed from comedy tough guy into a ****in brilliant defender - I'm amazed at how that has happened but I guess it shows the right coaching can change a guys game. Maybe Clarke and Kenny can do the same for Carroll but I'm not sure there's enough to work with there.
