Fabio warns Carroll over booze

England boss Fabio Capello has revealed he has spoken to Andy Carroll to warn him about the dangers of drinking too much beer.
Liverpool striker Carroll, who will start Tuesday's friendly against Ghana, found himself caught up in a number off-the-field alcohol-fuelled incidents while at Newcastle.
Capello is a big admirer of Carroll and he believes he must take care of himself off the pitch if he wants to improve as a player.
"Carroll is a player, who's really good in the air, but not only this," said Capello. "The movement when he receives the ball is good. With the ball. He's strong. He's a good player. He's a good forward.
"Look, he's young. Really young. His behaviour now is really, really important. Really important. He needs to be careful at every moment.
"When you play with the England national team, at every moment you are the focus of the fans, the newspapers, the photographers, the people that live around him.
"I spoke with him privately. I think not only Andy likes to drink beer. Not only Andy. He needs to improve, to drink less."
Capello also insists there has been no deal struck with Liverpool over how long Carroll will play for against Ghana.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish hinted that he would prefer Carroll not to be involved at all after only recently recovering from a long-term thigh problem.
However, Capello feels Carroll is capable of starting against Ghana and that his involvement will only help him in his bid for fitness.
"Absolutely no-one has rung me and we have not spoken with Liverpool," added Capello.
"He needs to play. Liverpool will be happy for him to play. It is a friendly and he can play up to half-time, or more. For this reason, the game is important for him and for me."
Jack Wilshere has also found himself involved in some off-the-field scrapes, but Capello believes Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is the right man to keep the young midfielder on the right track.
"I think the teacher of Wilshere is really good," added Capello. "Wenger will be a good teacher for him. It's better for him to speak with him."Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

"I spoke with him privately. Then I told everyone what I'd said to him in private."
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I was thinking much the same thing. I've generally been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but this Carroll nonsense is just bizarre. He's probably right that Carroll, like far too many British players, does drink too much but to go public with a conversation he took pains to say was private is entirely incomprehensible (much like his English apparently
).

There does seem to be an element of him coasting into retirement about the whole thing. That or he isn't as enamoured with the job as he thought he would be.
That said potentially Carroll needs to be jolted out of his complacency re: drinking. Not sure going public in this way is a good way to go about it but we shall see."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I hope Capello also warned Terry about shagging other peoples wives, warned Rooney about not to shag anyone's grandma and told Cole not to bring his gun with him.
The man is a PR disaster, not sure why anyone would want to play for England at this moment in time.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

But what place is it of Fabio to do so? He isn't a regular with England (yet!) and as far has been reported hasn't been late to training, hungover or drinking the night before a game so why does he feel the need to offer advice?Originally posted by dww View PostThat said potentially Carroll needs to be jolted out of his complacency re: drinking. He says this and then says the best person for Wilshere to get advice from is Wenger so why does the same not apply to Kenny. I hate Fabio, he is an FA parasite sucking down the last reminants of salary before he packs it in and couldn't give a flying **** for England. At least in the past when we were **** the manager actually cared for the situation, even that loon Sven. I really really can't stand Fabio!

Perhaps he knows Wenger but not Dalglish and thinks it is more of a worry in Carrols case. Despite not being regulars at this stage both players are probably going to be vital in the next couple of years for England. If the action is in the interests of the player then I don't see why we would object. Not being close enough to the situation I don't feel qualified to know if it is a good move or not.Originally posted by Chrono View PostBut what place is it of Fabio to do so? The not turning up hungover or late seems a complete red herring to me. If he is less fit, concentrating less or simply not progressing as he might then his drinking is a problem for both England and Liverpool."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
