He's joined the wrong Club then.

LFC don't do wingers, well good ones.

Shame that you didn't realise that it wasn't a slight on the player but a dig at the signing
I think there is a good chance we will look back on his signing and cringe, but we won't know either way for a long time.

coming back from injury. I would give him time and would see how our team does in the league.
Absolutely. He has not played for almost 3 months and then he moved to a completely different team and teammates that he never played with before.

I thought he had a very good game, showed a lot of emotions, desire and will to win the ball and help the team at every occasion and it wasn't for Kuyt's unlucky block at the very end of the game he would have scored and become an instant hero (maybe not yet but still).

Lot of good stuff he did today and I personally feel more optimistic now than before.

I thought he was our best player TBH. Not difficult tonight I admit but MOM for me anyway. I don't think our way of playing was a shape of things to come I just think it was probably our best chance to stay in the competition.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Time will tell, I hope I'm wrong.

You are. He's the perfect foil for the guile and trickery of Suarez. Great signing IMO. His first start for 3 months with rubbish service, what exactly did you expect from him?

Better he beds in and has half a dozen 'proper' matches this season and is fully integrated into the system for next season.
He might not set the world on fire over the next few games but it will be a chance for him to learn what it's like to be a Liverpool forward - and hopefully it'll give our current players (eg Carragher) the chance to learn that he's not just someone you lump the ball up to.
It will also give the owners/manager a chance to work out who they should be signing to complement them next season too.

The next few games will give him and Suarez chance to work together and they'll be able to take that and hit the floor running next season.

I've said this before we need at least one wide player capable of putting good crosses into the box for him.

The other problem with Carroll, is like when we had Crouch: when he's in the team we just see him as a head on a stick and hoof balls up in the air to him. The coaching staff need to break this mentality. I suggest punishments for the players for every unnecessary hoof
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He'll open things up for our offensive players but I do think that when in the box sometimes he jumps prematurely and his headers need little better techniques as they don't seem to have the power expected from the aerial threat that he presents.

One thing with Carroll, he will improve Jamie Carraghers pass completion rate!

I think it is early days to find out how good a player he will be for us, but yesterday was a good example of how we do not want to be using him. As a big fella his presence provides way to easy an out ball for our less skilled defenders (step forward Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel). We can play a percentage ball up to the big man and hope it sticks, which is fine if you are aiming for avoiding relegation but not good enough for a team with ambitions such as ours.

Playing the long ball is an option sure, but yesterday it seemed our only option. I am hoping with a few decent acquisitions and the return of some of our better players (Agger and Gerrard) we will be able to play both on the deck and have the option of playing it long.

We shall see. I like the looks of Carroll though, he was actually quite well marked yesterday, but he will **** up a fair few defenders over his career and once he gains more intelligence regarding how he plays his position (he is a young un after all) and links up with Suarez (who looks the real deal already) I think we have the basis of a good strike force... Buying wingers seems a no brainer in the summer and Ashley Young seems to be the sort of player with premiership experience we lack.

So reasons to be optimistic I'd say. But alst night was a disaster and shows the road we do not want to go down.

Last night Carroll played as well as could be realistically expected, he won everything in the air, despite being out injured for the past 3 months, was good at holding the ball up for our **** midfielders to try and link up with, and showed heart I thought. There was every reason to be pleased with him despite a terrible performance from the team as a whole. Link him with Suarez and we could have a belting partnership.

FFS writing him off now is unbelievable.
