I think there was interest in Sturridge back then as he fit the mould simply because he was English.

That's the thing. The injuries have made him into a shadow of a player he was and when you fork out £60m, I think you're pretty much expecting a much better return than what he's given (through no fault of his own though). Also, I haven't watched all of Real's games, obviously, but my inkling is that most of those goals and assists have come against comparative minnow sides which Real normally steamroll.

I think the fact that Real spend so much on transfers and have so any stars has disguised the fact that he's been a bit of a disaster and he's not really that good anymore.

Just skimming The Express at a mates house.

David Sullivan quoted as saying he has a meeting on Monday to discuss bringing in a club transfer record record breaking striker.

Does he cryptically mean Carroll or are they going to bid for someone else and send him back to us?

You hope and pray it's to take him on a perm deal it probably means he's coming back and they're breaking the bank to bring in someone else!

I would be surprised if they bought him from us.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I hope they do. We could use that money to buy a footballer.

We have to get rid of him and get as much for him as possible, I just can't see West Ham signing him based on his performances so far, hopefully Big Sam thinks that he could get more out of him. I would be surprised if we managed to get more than ~£12m for him. To think we paid £35m FFS

Vitesse's Wilfried Bony set to move to West Ham for €13.5m

Premier division top scorer Wilfried Bony is set to leave Vitesse for London club West Ham, according to Voetball International.

VI says West Ham and the Arnhem side are close to agree a €13.5m deal for the Ivory Coast international and that the agreement will be announced next week. The striker still has to agree his own terms with the London club, VI says.

Bony, who left the African country in 2008, has scored 26 times this season and ensured Vitesse is in with a chance at the Dutch title.

The 24-year-old has made no secret of his ambitions to play at a higher level. In November he said he wanted to leave the Netherlands because the government refuses to allow his family from Ivory Coast to visit him.

Tbh I think they would be better just sticking with Carroll, bony won't be able to cut it in the prem IMO.

Will be surprised if we get more than £10m for Carroll.

What I think will happen is that we will loan him out again because no club will be prepared to pay what we want and that is probably more than £15m.
