was one in particular when ball was in the air, Fellani approached the ball for a header and Downing just stopped when he saw any sorts of physical contact with Fellani. He had one good cross in the game and....... that was it for our Stuart.

he worked very hard last night and tracked his man back constantly. his cross for kelly was brilliant and he was unlucky not to get an assist.

if he keeps working as hard as he is the goals and assists will come. but we do need someone very creative on the other side or off carroll to help spark something.

To be honest mate i'd expect any footballer playing for LFC to work their ass off in general, never mind the derby in Anfield. He has been dreadful, often lazy and is a wimp, for me there's no getting away from these glaring facts, and a good work rate and one cross in a game that we dominated just ain't gonna cut it.

IMO Nowhere near good enough to be a regular starter with LFC, his constant inclusion makes me nauseous. The fact that was nowhere near his worst game says something in itself. He didn't really do anything wrong as such, but didn't really do anything right either... he's just there.

Yep, was involved in the first goal too and Gerrard's early chance.

typical Downing performance really. Did a couple of really good things and then was largely anonymous for the rest of the game.

Someone needs to put a confidence rocket up his arse.

Just take on your fullback, do it 15 times a game and you might get beyond him 5+ times - we know he can cross, so one of those 5+ times could easily turn into an assist for a winning goal. Just ****ing have a go. Nobody will fault a try-er.

Needs to have the hug the touchline and drive at the fullback instilled in him, more you try to give it a go the more likely you'll manage it. I think thats the most annoying quality of a footballer is when they don't even give it a go!!

Its very frustrating. He absolutely ripped Richards earlier in the season then doesn't go at him again!

                        Then theres this :

Just get it and drive at the cunts, it's pretty much all Antonio Valencia does.

Yep, his job isn't rocket surgery. Have a go. He doesn't even have to go past people; shift the ball, make a yard of space and whip it into the box.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He tried that - but he found out he couldn't out sprint Hibbert.

He was up against Hibbert FFS, not exactly the paciest defender in the league. Our Stewie just does not have the stomach for a physical tussle. Too easily shirks away from a duel and takes the easy option, i.e. a pass back to Enrique or inside to a CM. Frustrating as hell because he has the ability.

I thought he was terrible again last night. His cross to Kelly was amazing, but the rest of his game, particularly his set pieces were shocking. I don't get it, why do we let him take set pieces? He hasn't any league assists or goals, doesn't look like providing them other than the rare cross like that one every 3 games or so why let him take dead ball opportunities in good positions. I'd rather see Gerrard or Suarez et al waste it than a trademark downing cross failing to clear the first man. It makes me want to tear my hair out.

Dire player, and despise that he's always in the team.
