if these guys from share liverpool can put a decent structure into this - there's no reason why it cant work. What they cant do is some half arsed attempt to get the fans together.

If Tommy smith was up there giving a speech outside anfield with thousands of fans listening to him - dont you think that would have a much better impact on fans.

Rally the troops - get us on side and lets go out and send these yanks back across the atlantic.

Please god let these guys be for real...

        £500m = Debt free club.

Deby free club means that any profits go to, yep you guessed it, the club itself.

Why do so many rich individuals want to own a club? Why because the profits are huge.

Without some fool after a long term profit (Yanks, DIC) what would that mean people? It will mean that all the profit can be spent on the club.

It would also mean this. Three people stand for presedential election. Who do you vote for? The one who will put a load of cash in that's who. So as well as all club profits going on the club, so does the money of the would be president.

If it came off it would be fantastic news for the club. It's not a short term fix, but in the long term, the benefits are huge. And the club would be in safe hands for the fore seeable future.

If we have a well run, debt free Club to start
with, there will be money to buy players (how much do you think is spent servicing the Club’s debts?). Also the elected Board may wish
to raise money (as any business must sometimes). At Barca, very rich individuals
stand for election with promises of further investment. But it doesn’t mean they
          ‘own’ any part of Club.
I know nothing of the Barcelona presidents model etc, but how do they get people who want to put money into the club without them getting anything in return??

I think the guys organising this are counting on those sentiments exactly, to offer an alternative method of football ownership in this country. I'm fairly certain that if we can't do it, no other premiership team has the fan base that can.

with this scheme you wouldnt have that 10 year period of mediocrity because the club would have decent money to spend on transfers from day one and hopefully we can bring some decent players in - unless benitez is in charge of it in which case we'll be buying ****heads like kuyt's twin brother and voronin's sister.

Problem is that even when Moores was in charge and we had ~£40m debts we only really made a profit one year out of the last five or so. Usually we make a loss of ~£5m assuming that the £5M loss is due to servicing the £40m debt we would still only break even!

                  The glory of running Barca.

Would you put up a tenner to run LFC? You bet ya would.

So imagine if you were mega rich. What would you pay then? What would the chance of running LFC fetch on EBAY?

Ridiculous notion I know, but in essence that is partly down to it.

But we would surely elect someone who knew about merchandising/marketing as part of the board to maximise our profits (for investment in the playing squad).

I'd be interested, but I've still got 9 months before I start earning money when I get out of uni, which would mean I could (almost certainly) never have a share.

Their account has been suspended it seems as well for some reason.

because they genuinely love their club and dont care about dividend payments, season ticket preferences or who's wearing what at anfield this week.

They support their club - and they dont expect anything in return except to love that club all their lives.

You should have a look at Tom's post earlier in the thread - he talks a lot of sense.

The fame and love and a place in history only exist if they are successful which is by no means guarenteed, a stand named after them requires them to do something amazing, it seems we are looking for someone rich looking to have their ego massaged

I don't know the figures, but you can guarantee that the Yanks are owning us to make money, not for the love of the club.

Same goes for all the other moronic foreign owners in the prem. Even Chelsea had a ten year plan to break even and then make money!
