Not seen anything about when the money would have to be in place, but I guess if such a volume of fans were behind such a scheme, there could be enough pressure placed on Hicks and Gillett to force them to sell through Boycotts or whatever
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Anyone seen any more detail on the financial model? Can't see how £500m is going to pay for the club and a stadium. If the Echo is to be believed:

The ECHO understands the group plans to raise £500m to buy the club AND finance a new stadium

****ing mentalists. Football has changed. Its a billionaires playground now. Accept it. There is no way this idea can work. It will take us down hill. And there is no chance in hell the fans buy-out could build a stadium.

To all the people asking where money would be found for new players and a new stadium: Where do you think other clubs get the money for this? and us currently? From the shareholders. No. But from taking money out against future earnings and revenue streams (if not from operating profits).

It can work - it just need a proper management structure to take it forward. What wont work is where they want 100,000 fans to pay £5k each. Unless they adopt more flexibility in this I can see this falling apart.

Off topic - but i just read on another forum that Liverpool were negotiating a last minute deal for Alfonso Alves of Herenveen.

Not sure how true but at least it lifts the mood a bit.

No chance will they raise £500m lol. Its laughable. They would have to float on the stock market. Dont think i want that.

These guys are dreaming. Lets the yanks get on with it, let them build the stadium i say. If DIC buy-out then all the better.

Barcelona was different. Those fans didnt have to build a stadium. This will be a disaster

I understand that, but they have clearly stated that they expect the 500 mill to pay for both the club and the ground. That's what I'm struggling to get my head round

Squad investment is a different matter obviously

Was speaking to my workmate about this. He is a hardcore Scummer & they aimed to do something like this before the Glazers took over. He reackoned that they couldnt even get the 10% to get veto rights, so we have all on here.

If this had happened pre-Moores selling & we were all simply contributing to purchasing a stadium, then I think the idea would be more realistic, but having to wipe out all that debt too, well sadly I just cannot see it happening. I really wish they had put this to Moores before he sold, cos it seems like we've missed the boat now.

That, & the Yanks not wanting to sell will be the major obstacle.

This is from the FAQ. Backed away slightly from saying 500m covers the club and the stadium, but not too far

                      How much will it cost?
We estimate that a sum of £5,000 each
will be enough. We need 100,000 members.
                      100,000 x £5,000 = £500 million
That should buy the club and go a long way towards building a new stadium.

I'm not even convinced 500m would pursuade hicks to sell, unless they have some dirt on him (which would be nice)

They can't even accurately forecast the amount of people who might want to look at their website the day they launch the idea to the world. Amateurs, it would be like having Moores back in charge of the club, clueless from the top down.

This is a non-starter. Now, let's get on with real life!

Bit unfair, all the major news companies have covered it so not just LFC fans, lots of others too. They may have had anywhere from 100,000 tomillions of people checking it out.

Aye, we are definitely off to a non-starter if everyone takes this attitude.

We had 50000 fans in Istanbul each paying between £1000-£2000 to go there. Don't think it will be a problem finding 100 000 fans worldwide willing to part with £5000 to be part of this.
