The problem is 500million is just the start.

What happens when the stadium costs start spiralling, we have a bad season and need to find an extra 50 million for players?

I can't see this ever working, but at least it gives Rogan Taylor his moment in the spotlight.

You can ask Hicks and Gillett that very same question......
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Thats the kind of thing that makes this idea so exciting. You would genuinely feel like you have a some impact on the club. You would know your £20 per month paid for Torres or Villa or Eto or whoever. That would be amazing.

They have said to build the stadium they would use the Arsenal model which is a form of debt. If I'm not mistaken all tv money and CL money along with improved merchandising (which has to happen some day) would pay for ongoing player purchase and such instead of debt from buying the club.

What they're suggesting is a cooperative not a shareholding. The exec are still charged with making a profit which we're far more likely to do without £30m debt to re-pay. Once the club is bought by the cooperative it is run along the same lines as any other club and will live or die by performances on the field attracting TV rights, merchandising etc.

The only tangible difference is if you have an inept exec who would like to bring in a useless manager, like Klinsman, you can remove them after a specified amount of time.

I worked for a cooperative for 11 years and believe me the exec are accountable to the membership because they can be removed by them- eventually. Like any other exec they hide the bad stuff in the middle of their term, but let me say this again, you can get rid- what most of us wouldn't give to be able to do that at the moment.

If it could make us competitive with the Utd's and the Chelsea's then Id be all for it
Yes to both those questions, they could also extend the membership if required.

Last time I checked £20 x 100.000 was £2.000.000. That won't even buy us a decent centre back.

Per month my friend. It's £2m a month

                    It's £20 per month so this means £20 x 100,000 x 12 = 24,000,000 = more than we paid for Torres...

OK. So then 100.000 people should first pay £5000, then £240 a year and then you have to buy tickets and kits and other stuff you normally do? Don't think that's even close to being realistic. Look at the protests when ticket prices rises a few pounds. People struggle to pay for their season tickets. How can they afford this?

Hansi is right, getting people to pay £5k and then £240 a year wont happen. The guy in charge of this said it would be a 1 off payment as well so I think people are getting ahead of themselves.
The idea for a fan buyout is great and people should just stick to that for the moment.

But this is just an off the cuff suggestion by redsarebest, not what Share Liverpool are proposing so it really doesn't effect how people should view Share Liverpool.

Exactly. It was just a "what if". Just a bit of a day dream. In no way related to the reality of the Share Liverpool idea. As has been mentioned that was just a one off payment to buy your share.

I know. I was just commenting on this idea.
